@Mike: It really is hilarious. When people see him lurking in a thread, they’ll often post a little “Hi, Rich!” to let him know we appreciate all his “hard work.” He usually logs off after that.

I shouldn’t get on Cimini too hard though…the Jets might be the only team worse than the Pats in terms of media disinformation and smokescreens. Sure makes draft week a lot more exciting though.

@Jay: I think TBL picked up the story (and by “picked up,” I mean “included a link in the Roundup”) because it centers on two of the most recognizable and controversial players in the draft. If the Rams or Falcons were in a similar position, we would have seen the same story from the Post-Dispatch or the Journal-Constitution.

Jay … it’s a rumor! And who “picked it up”? TBL? What’s the top headline on espn.com right now … a rumored trade of Jason Taylor, of the Dolphins!

I agree many, many sports stories get blown out of proportion. And a lot come out of New York. But this is not one of them. Really, who is at fault for all this Chad Johnson crap? The New York Post?

And “getting tired of it” was really a poor choice of words on my part — actually, I quite enjoy it. It gets Roman fired up too!

Nixon – oh, I’m not defending Cimini. I’m just a little tired of Jay’s constant New York-bashing, i.e., “why does everything have to center around New York?” etc. In this case, all I’m saying is that it’s a rumor in a local paper — which you can find in any paper across the country! So what’s the big deal?

Great story about jetsinsider.com though, didn’t know that and it’s hilarious.

Thank you. I think (hope? pray?) the Matt Ryan stuff is a smokescreen. If he’s BPA, I think we’ll take him, but only to start a bidding war between the Ravens and Falcons (like the Chargers did with Eli a few years back). I really think McFadden is the guy they want, though Chris Long is a close 2nd.

And Mike NYC-given your username, you of all people should know that Rich Cimini is a complete dolt who can’t be trusted with safety scissors, let alone NFL draft rumors. No lie: Cimini regularly stops by the forums at jetsinsider.com for his information. I’m not kidding. He posts as “RCimini,” and it’s amazing how the posters there will be discussing a rumor, Cimini will be seen lurking, and the info will find its way onto his blog the next morning…
