Colt McCoy Just Wins, Baby (Mangino)

College Football 135 Comments »

The Kansas Jayhawks visit the Texas Longhorns tonight as Colt McCoy looks to become the winningest quarterback in NCAA history. As we all know, W-L record is the most important statistic to use when discussing the greatness of a quarterback.

Of course, to become the winningest winner in NCAA history, he and the #3 Longhorns have to get past Mark Mangino and his pansy-ass squad. Read the rest of this entry »

UConn Upsets Notre Dame in Double OT, That’ll Do it For Charlie

College Football 57 Comments »

charlie-weis-notre-dameFor the second year in a row the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have suffered another horrendous, inexplicable, unforgivable loss on senior day in South Bend. Last year it was a near broken Syracuse team, hanging on by a scraggly pube, that came in and managed to sneak away with a win.

Today, it was yet another Big East team known better for excellence in college hoops, the UConn Huskies.

What more can be said? Under Charlie’s watch, the Irish have lost back-to-back games to Air Force and Navy, the aforementioned abomination against the Orangemen, another loss to Navy, and today’s disaster against UConn.

In a word? Embarrassing. In another word? Relief. The Charlie Weis era is finally over.

new-jersey-nets-were-good-onceThe New Jersey Nets lost again today. To the cross-river rival Knicks. That drops the worst team in the NBA to 0-13. Now, things get interesting. The Nets will have two days and a long plane ride to put the game in historical perspective. Can they reach 0-18 and claim the mark for worst start in league history? They start a West Coast trip at Denver Tuesday, followed by Portland Wednesday. Assume losses. Sacramento is six days away, and that could be New Jersey’s best shot. It seems unlikely that they’ll beat the Lakers or Mavericks after that.

JJ Redick: "Plus, we don’t have LeBron. Seriously, if the guy (James) said tomorrow that he was going to run for President, (CNN’s) Anderson Cooper would be on SportsCenter for 30 minutes talking about why he’d make a good president." First the "rap album" and now this? He's winning back the hearts and minds of basketball fans everywhere. It's like he never went to Duke! [NBA.com] (13)

The Bills Really Wanted Jon Gruden

john_daly_jon_gruden_200803_apAccording to a report from News 4 Sports in Buffalo, Jon Gruden would’ve been the guy to replace Dick Jauron if owner Ralph Wilson had his way.

The source claims the Bills “went after him hard,” including a face-to-face sitdown and most likely enticing promises of season tickets to the Sabres and a suite at Coca-Cola Field, where the Buffalo Bisons work their magic. Read the rest of this entry »

Michigan And Ohio State Square Off in Battle of The Insufferable

College Football 107 Comments »

osu_crying_fansThe beauty of today’s sure bloodbath at The Big House between Ohio State and Michigan is that the records never matter. The stakes are always high in this kind-of-a-big-deal rivalry. So much so that it can even be a fun watch for those who’s only rooting interest is pure, unbridled hatred, end zone to end zone.

But what fun can be had if the Buckeyes thump the Wolverines? Jim Tressel and an army of helmets draped with nifty Buckeye Leaf stickers already know they’re headed to the Rose Bowl. Plus, they’ve won five straight against Michigan. Bor-ingRead the rest of this entry »
