Cole Hamels Speaks the Truth: “For the Past Two Years, [The Mets] Have Been Choke Artists.”
Baseball December 12th. 2008, 1:15pmFirst Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro and now Cole Hamels? We’re fixin’ to get excited about Spring Training for the first time since we put pen to paper for fantasy drafts in the early 1990s. When’s the first Phillies-Mets game?
“Yeah, yeah, for the past two years, they’ve been choke artists.” - Cole Hamels
You mean like Eminem in 8 Mile? “
What’s not to love about Cole Hamels? He’s got lethal stuff, a World Series ring, a hot wife, and he’s a World Series MVP.
Mets fan reaction:
Cole Hamels is still a dick

“the mets have a wonderful palate when it comes to the choke. they build up drama in cascading fashion only to rain down pain onto their fans heads. while their pieces are dramatic and forceful, much like a wagner opera, their choking masterpieces are drawn out far too long in a sprawling tome of chokery. while a altruistic commentary of the current state of affairs in america, the mets are tragically unoriginial in their delivery. incredible, but at the same time, ordinary.”

I know what you are looking for…I heard the interview live..Joe and Evan asked the dude direct questions and he answered them knowing he was talking to two Mets fans. I thought it was funny..he gets to talk. He was WS MVP. Ruben Amaro Jr. can enjoy the signing of a decrepit OF.

a long-term contract would be nice.

If the Mets win the World Series in the next few years you won’t be able to call them chokers anymore.

Through all this heat, Cole Hamels and David Wright get along though swimmingly because they share the same eyebrow waxer.

Really? Decrepit? The same decrepit OF who has driven in 100+ runs 3 years in a row for bad teams. The same decrepit OF who played 162 games this year, and has missed only 16 games the past 4 years. The same decrepit OF who above league average range in LF.
Really? There’s NOTHING decrepit about Ibanez.

Ibanez’s defensive deficiencies are overstated, and definitely are not backed up by statistics. Statistically speaking, he is an improvement over Burrell. Additionally, in Citizens Bank Park, LF is by far the least important defensive position.

Hot wife? She’s a skeezoid.

Rumor is that Michael Hutchence will sing the national anthem at the home opener.
Too soon?
