Speaking about ESPN’s new Pedro Gomez, Terrell Owens said late last night: “I think it was a lack of professionalism on Ed Werder’s behalf.” (Video courtesy of commenter Cortes.) Pretty jarring stuff to see on national television. It isn’t often that reporters get called out at the end of what might be the most-watched game of the NFL season. If anyone switched over to the NFL Network for the entire post game presser, Owens must have name-dropped Werder at least a dozen times. A week of seismic rumblings in Dallas – it all began with Werder’s report – culminated with a victory over the reeling Super Bowl champs. Kumbaya.

And now, for what surely will be an unpopular sentiment … but while watching the NFL Network press conference, at one point, we felt bad for Owens. Someone had asked him about the fans booing, and how he felt, and Owens said something like, “that’s alright, that’s alright,” and feigned a smile but looked as if he was on the verge of getting misty-eyed. He said something to the effect of being by himself, and all he needed was his family. He pointed to the door, and said they were on the other side of it.

There’s no doubt that TO’s actions are often self-centered, annoying, and have been damaging to each NFL team he’s been with. No question the guy seeks attention, perhaps moreso than any other player in the NFL. But that doesn’t mean we can’t feel sorry for the guy. He’s polarizing and gives everyone lots of reasons to dislike him, but if you’re looking for a positive – and you’ve really, really got to look hard – at least this guy’s not out there getting in trouble with the law like the rest of the league.

We hear he’s having his birthday party this week. Wonder if Witten and Romo show up?
