Better News: Devendorf Back, or Jerry Jones, Senile?
College Basketball, NFL December 27th. 2008, 3:45pm
This one should officially end all Syracuse bubble chatter three months before the March discussions begin: guard Eric Devendorf, the team’s best shooter, has performed his necessary community service (wearing a hairnet!) for hitting a female student in the face, and has been re-instated to the team. Rautins can go back to his role as 6th man, and the freshman won’t be pressed into minutes they weren’t ready for, in this the Greatest Season in Big East History. We’ve got the ‘Cuse somewhere between the Final 4 and Sweet 16.
In slightly more yawn-inducing news on this slow Saturday, meddling Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues to say things to land in the news: coach Wade Phillips’ isn’t going anywhere, regardless of what happens Sunday in Philly. The “Big D” must stand for drama, not Dallas. Whether it is Pacman Jones, Terrell Owens or Jerry Jones, the Cowboys must be a national story every week. It is written somewhere in the NFL bylaws, feel free to look it up.
The Sunday plan that hopefully will work: Church, gym, Seven Pounds, NFL, NFL, NFL. We can’t wait until Tuesday - that should be the day all futures are paid out, and we fully plan on dedicating a brief post to the Dolphins for their winning ways, and the Lions for their ineptitude.

How dare the GM answer questions from reporters! What an asshole.
Nice of Boeheim to really lay down the law on that guy who beats up chicks, too. The Big East is crazy overrated this year.

If it happens in Dallas, it’s the top story. If it happens in Minnesota or Cincinnati, it doesn’t even make the news at all. I cannot possibly be the only person who has a problem with that. “The majority” should not be able to dictate news content to this great an extent. The Cowboys are becoming to sports what Natalee Holloway, shark attacks, and Lindsay Lohan are to the regular news. And “giving the people what they want” is a chickenshit copout excuse. People shouldn’t always get what they want.

The Chargers talk shit about Jay Cutler, the news cycle has already run its course. If Bradie James talked shit about Donovan McNabb, there’d be special editions of SportsCenter dedicated to it.

The pathetic ACC, which beat up on the mighty SEC this season, will go 3-0 today.
Next prediction?

yeah, we hit the Cutler junk yesterday
too bad they play on the west coast … if they were east coast teams, it’d be huge
bias!

“Hey Jerry, does a GM who has been in control of his team for twelve years and the team hasn’t won one playoff game in that period of time deserve to be fired?”
How come nobody asks that question?
TBL, I was referring to a certain network on the bias. The same day that the Cutler smack was run, SportsCenter’s top story was that Jerry Jones still says that Wade Phillips is staying (a.k.a. nothing new has happened)

Wait, he punched a girl in the face?
As far as smaller, slightly violent crimes go, is there anything worse you can do as a man?
December 27th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
well, devendorf “allegedly” punch a girl in the face.
December 27th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
He’s doing community service for something.
December 27th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
And wait, Seven Pounds? Does that mean you’ve already seen The Wrestler, Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire, Valkyrie, Doubt and now you’re seeing that bc there is nothing left to see?
December 27th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Save your money TBL, don’t go see Seven Pounds
December 27th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
HUGE UFC Pay Per View tonight, it’s even on ESPN.com (how did that happen?)
December 27th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
What do you mean by HUGE? Wouldn’t the UFC have to be remotely interesting to the majority of the sports-watching community to be considered “huge?”

Oh and Happy Holidays Sportsgal!

Flynn is probably the best cuse shooter, but thats nitpicking anyway. Where are all the people saying Devendorf should have sat out because he hit a woman, now that its been proven that he didn’t? Seth Davis I’m looking in your direction. For a Duke grad you think Davis would have known better than jumping to conclusions or believing the SU kangaroo court.
December 27th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
It began with punching a woman in the face, allegedly, and ended with figuratively punching a woman in the face over the Internet. Full circle.
December 27th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
I liked seven pounds. pretty depressing, but good, imo.
December 27th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
cursed- what is your problem? I don’t think that was called for. I hate the MMA also and don’t find this HUGE at all. Sorry. I guess that makes me an ugly whore.
December 27th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
MMA people keep dying lately. It’s the new WWE. Lame.

Jay.. You have committed what is, by all accounts an egregious error in message board posting… If you are going to reply to yourself, you must alert the masses with a double post alert… ‘DPA’, as most reasonable people refer to it as…. However, it seems that you have blown right throo all of that and tagged what many envious men refer to as the triple post alert….
Be considerate next time.
asshole.
December 27th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
DPA:
Devendorf absolutely slammed a girl in the face… And far more. Nice to see Bay-Heim just shuttle this under the Christmas table apron.
December 27th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Well played, sir.
Pac-10’s gonna move to 2-0 in the bowl season tonight.
December 27th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Violated the triple post rule. And the Quad! FU Tar Baby!
December 27th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Louis CK has a great bit on “Cunt” and “the N-word”
December 27th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
The bitch lied and was drunk….now that this has come out, everyone is calling it a Verbal altercation.
I mean seriously he got expelled then 40 hrs of CService for a verbal altercation? What law does that break other than them covering their ass after beliveing the bleeding for 7 days Sorositute.
Another case of “Men” getting the short end of the judicial stick when a crazy bitch gets in your face acting crazy.

ESPN loves Jacory Harris’ nuts
December 27th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Man. I do not like the way this place gets during the holidays.
December 27th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
“Umm … yeah. I’m gonna need you to come in on Saturday.”
December 28th, 2008 at 1:16 am
No Way Devendorf is the Cuse’s best shooter. Flynn Neither. Rautins by far is their best shooter. They def are a lot better though with Rautins coming off bench. They still beat memphis, in Memphis without devendorf. Would have blown them out if they could make free throws. That will definitely be their downfall this year.
December 28th, 2008 at 9:40 am
who’s devendorf?
/not good enough to keep getting his own posts
//i’m going to keep posting this everytime there’s a post about this guy who likes to beat up chicks
///he’s definitely not good enough to get away with beating up chicks
December 28th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Cursedcleveland apparently likes to beat up chicks. Man, what a stupid fucking comment. Tar Baby-level shit there, bud.
