Mike Patrick: “Georgia is Pulling a Plaxico … They Just Keep Shooting Themselves”
College Football, Media Gossip/Musings January 1st. 2009, 2:39pm
If you’re not sure what to make of ESPN’s Mike Patrick as a sports announcer – perhaps you didn’t like his Britney Spears question – his line today during the 2nd quarter (six minutes left in the half) of the Michigan State-Georgia bowl game could help you make up your mind:
Following a silly third-down penalty on the Bulldogs, Patrick said, “Georgia is just pulling a Plaxico. They just keep shooting themselves.” Then came silence from his partner, and the discussion veered toward the wind.

I think it’s funny. Fuck the giants.

seems fine by me. I hear announcers say “they’re shooting themselves in the foot!” all the time. Is it wrong if we know whose leg is it?

Works for me. Slow news day. How about a “Brett Favre sucks and should go away forever” post instead of this mess?

Huh, I didn’t know Stafford’s mom was Kirstie Alley. Learn something new every day…

@ bsanders37: Agreed. I’m waiting for “FAVRE” to reappear as it’s own section of the ticker on ESPN between “NCAAF” and “NBA”, because you know, the man’s midlife crisis is a sport. I’ll contribute a picture to your idea.

What’ll be interesting is if Stafford throws three interceptions and then Patrick says that Mark Richt should be fired.

How about a post about football coaches who call fake punts when they are up by 35?

Absolutely shitty move.

Mike Patrick should be fired for that shirt.

I laughed hysterically at that comment. I wondered if that just came off his tongue or if he came to the game with it in his hip pocket, waiting for the right time to use it.

Classic line. I’ve become a Mike Patrick fan.

Why does ESPN think it’s newsworthy to tell us where ESPN Scouts Inc analyst Todd McShay thinks Andre Smith and Beanie Wells will be drafted?

I thought it was funny.

Brent Musberger: “In the future, when you look back on what USC has accomplished in the last 7 years….”
What will they see: one legitimate, undisputed national championship? One less than the Florida/Oklahoma winner? One less BCS title than LSU

Anyone else remember when Mike Patrick said during the LSU-Va Tech game in 2006, just a few months after the school shootings?
“LSU is just killing Virginia Tech out there tonight!”
