Athletes and Celebrities, Baseball, College Football, Courts, Legal, Media Gossip/Musings, NBA, NFL, Video January 6th. 2009, 8:00am
Steve Jobs, Apple, and his declining health … Jennifer Love Hewitt, back on the market … so what’s Huffington Post worth? … the internet is a crazy and dangerous place: deadmalls.com … the current recession? Pegged to be the longest … this list seems weird: America’s most educated small towns all appear to be college towns … another hot 22-year-old for Hef …
There’s an 11 am presser where police will announce whether or not Marvin Harrison will face chargers for last year’s shooting. (Fox Philly)
More on the Dungy debate. Still think losing him is a major loss. (Midwest Sports Fans)
Already dreaming of the Lou vs. Milton Bradley showdown. (Can’t Stop the Bleeding)
Unemployed former All-Star Antoine Walker busted for DUI in South Beach. (TMZ)
In a game of pick-up hoops, could you score on JJ Redick? (Gangsta D)
Listen: Joe Alexander is a nice in-game dunker. But if this is his highlight reel, the dude is going to get laughed at. (Video)
A bit tardy on this: Bowl-game butt-pluggery, starring a rear end. (Deadspin)
Not feeling FOX and BCS games. (The Big Picture)
The earlier reviews are in: Tampa’s signing of Pat Burrell is a good one. (The Heater)
Andy Pettitte says no to the Yankees. (NY Times)
Famous fashion designer jocks A-Rod; he “is still hung up on Madonna.” (Page Six)
A very solid NFL regular season “recap” video quick-cut highlights. (NFL Network)
Fun with NBA trade ideas! “The deal had the Knicks getting Marcus Camby, Channing Frye, rookie DeAndre Jordan, Jerryd Bayless and Jason Hart. The Knicks would give up Quentin Richardson, Lee, Anthony Roberson and Malik Rose.”

I think Ohio State is still blitzing in an unnecessary situation.

Again, TBL the Kravitz column really has nothing to do with Dungy and everything to do with Kravtiz’s feelings toward Polian. 18to88.com talked to a couple radio guys in Indy about it yesterday and they said Kravitz is pretty much pissed he can’t get any info from the Colts even though he’s the “most important media person in town.” I imagine he figures by doing this he’ll either get Polian to allow him access again outside of press conferences, or he just gets a huge amount of publicity for himself.
The sad part of all this is that there are a couple of really fine Colts beat reporters who for a couple years have been unable to do their jobs well because the Colts have basically blackballed The Star because of Kravitz. I know it’s a columnist’s job to generate controversy, but his latest screeds seemed more like someone in a dying industry, at a dying paper, dying to stay relevant.
Besides, if people really want to see a coach who (along with Polian) transformed the losing culture of two downtrodden franchises (who also owns one of the highest winning %’s in NFL history) ran out of town for losing TWO playoff games where he had the better team, so be it. He also won a Super Bowl when he didn’t have the best team. The Colts may have won 12 games in six straight years and had a ton of offensive talent during this run, but that doesn’t mean they always had the best TEAM.
I seem to remember Bill Cowher “coming up short” in the playoffs several times, then he won a Super Bowl, promptly missed the playoffs and left the game. Now he’s seen as some demigod. Dungy “came up short in the playoffs,” won a Super Bowl, then went 27-7 the next two years and will likely leave the game and be seen as “soft.” Whatever. People can think what they want. Dungy still goes to the hall of fame.

The headline reads “Jennifer Love Hewitt and Fiancé Split”
It should read: “jpq1999’s penis splits JLH’s ginormous mountains of goodness for a little ride through the valley”
/dirty old man’d

Remember when Carson Daly found out JLH dumped him by hearing it on TV? That had to suck all kinds of ass.

That’s what he gets for dating Tara Reid

anyone know the female is on Stern right now? It’s girl named Whitney who is somehow famous, and was married to an athlete (football) named Jason. he also played pro baseball?
January 6th, 2009 at 8:39 am
oh, disregard – the guy was Jason Sehorn, and the girl is his first wife
January 6th, 2009 at 8:39 am
Mack Brown > Tressel
January 6th, 2009 at 8:39 am
Eh, Tressel got a lot of shit the last 2 years for not bringing the heat in NC games. He finally did it and it worked well. We were in position and just missed an easy tackle at the end. F it.
January 6th, 2009 at 8:42 am
wow. this is the girl. she was a volleyball player in college, and she claims to have been a virgin when she married sehorn. they dated for 6 years prior to marriage.
http://blog.whereismatt.tv/?cat=340
ahhhh, now she’s talking about Danny Kanell (former FSU QB). they dated AFTEr she dated sehorn. a bit fishy.
January 6th, 2009 at 8:43 am
have to admit, last nights game was one of the few that ended up being good at the end.
January 6th, 2009 at 8:47 am
she also banged lance armstrong and rocco dispirito?
January 6th, 2009 at 8:48 am
My ass. No one dates someone who is/is going to be a pro athlete for six years without having to give it up.
I’d imagine.

Little known fact about Antoine Walker, he is actually on the Memphis Grizzlies payroll this year and isn’t unemployed. So while you are working 9-5, Antoine is partying it up in South Beach while making 8.8 million this year!

not entirely positive how the NBA thing works, but if they cut him, they probably gave him a lump sum and told him peace out.
anyone know if he’s collecting a bi-weekly check?
January 6th, 2009 at 8:57 am
If you cut him, you have to pay him 100%…if he agreed to be bought out, they could have worked out a deal, probably like 75%.
January 6th, 2009 at 9:01 am
BigPicture doesn’t go far enough. I was discussing this last night, FOX is actually ruining these games. People probably don’t even realize how much bad announcing and poor production affect their idea of the “quality” of the teams/game.
Also, I guarantee a high ranking FoxSports official was a band geek.
January 6th, 2009 at 9:02 am
could you score on JJ Redick?
yes. stop and pop
Vanilla Sky will never get laughed at
January 6th, 2009 at 9:04 am
The announcing team was on point last night.
January 6th, 2009 at 9:05 am
People really call him that? My God, I’ve been off the playgrounds way too long.
January 6th, 2009 at 9:12 am
This might be a good post topic later. But, is there any reason a locker-room camera is necessary or desired?
January 6th, 2009 at 9:17 am
@bsanders- Who do you think is Vanilla Sky?
January 6th, 2009 at 9:21 am
I’m guessing Joe Alexander because he’s white and can jump high? Or is that too on the nose?
January 6th, 2009 at 9:23 am
my man bsanders. Im hoping he gets in the dunk contest
January 6th, 2009 at 10:15 am
What kind of effed up shit is that? Wouldn’t want to be any bother to Marvin’s season. You think if this was Randy Moss, Arlen Specter would put more pressure on the DA to resolve this sooner?
January 6th, 2009 at 10:21 am
cracker
- Let’s have a break on the Colts hate outta you for one day, eh?
January 6th, 2009 at 10:55 am
I thought it was too much blitz on Texas’ final drive. It left the corners in one-on-one situations way too often and Colt McCoy shredded most of the secondary. Did he even have an incomplete pass on that drive? Yes, it was a missed tackled, but that dude was alone back there because the rest of the D was caught out of position b/c of a blitz.
January 6th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
I’ve seen Reddick in “non-sanctioned” games(he’s a local kid), and my dead mother could score on him.
