Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo crashed his Ferrari at 10:20am (GMT) today on his way to training at Man U’s Carrington complex. He was unhurt.  Can’t say the same for his Ferrari.

Ronaldo, 23, was driving through a tunnel on the A538 Wilmslow Road near Manchester Airport, when he crashed into a roadside barrier. No other vehicles were involved.

An eye witness described how the front edge of the sports car had been completely demolished while one of the front wheels had sheared off and could be seen 200 yards away from the scene. A rear tyre was completely flat.

The witness said: “I got there just after the accident had happened and saw the state of the car. It is amazing he got out of it without a scratch.€

Ronaldo has spent a reported $3 million on cars since joining Manchester United. He owns a Rolls Royce Phantom, two Porsche Cayennes and a Porsche 911, a BMW M6 and a Bentley Continental GTC.

He also owns a Ferrari F430, though police have not confirmed that was the car.
