Tim Tebow Returning To Florida
College Football January 11th. 2009, 3:16pm
Via ESPN, we get the best news of the weekend: Tim Tebow is coming back!
At a Championship gathering/celebration/shindig the man of the hour thrilled everyone by saying, “Oh, by the way let’s do it again. I’m coming back.” Perhaps he doesn’t like Detroit?
This reminds me of the time Coolidge let Van Wilder earn his degree. Except Tebow doesn’t have to pay tuition. He just wants to help people and win championships. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure why this reminds me of Van Wilder. Maybe I’m just thinking about vintage Tara Reid?
I would list off his many accomplishments, but they’re too impressive for me to capture here. Back to the game.

Florida IS Timmy Tebow.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
He’s looking to improve his draft stock from 6th to 4rd round. Makes business sense.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
I wonder why Jesus picked some funny-looking white dude to return to Earth as. Myself, I would’ve wanted to come back as Brad Pitt or maybe Tom Brady. But hey, whatever blows God’s skirt up.
Hurray for God!
January 11th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Where’s Godzilla Biscuits? Didn’t we agree that all Tebow posts would have her? Or was that just a great suggestion somebody made?
January 11th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
Aikman doing his best today to make Charles Davis look good, company man. Earlier he was whining that the Giants got away with some contact on DeSean Jackson before the half which wasn’t close to a penalty, now defending picking up the pass INT flag call.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
Shouldn’t Aikman still be calling those Dallas goes. Oh, right…
January 11th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
*games. not goes. It’s Sunday and I’m still hungover
January 11th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
A gay porno starring Tim Tebow would be rivaled only by Gran Torino in popularity among white men over 50.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Aikman isn’t even remotely in Charles Davis territory. Not even remotely.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Aikman’s no different than any other color man. He broadcasts the game like everyone watching has never seen a football game tomorrow. It’s not his fault, it’s in the job description.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Dammit, wrong copy and paste!
January 11th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Thom Brennaman is thrilled at this development.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Why was this an issue in the first place? Was anyone seriously advocating that he leave?
January 11th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
what an idiotic challenge that was.

wow, look at Parker chase him down.
another spot where they miss Plax.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
denied again.
if the eagles get 2 first downs, this one is over.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Looks like the Eagles have this wrapped up, but if any coach (other than Childress or Norv) can find a way to blow this, it’s Andy Reid.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
how ugly would a baltimore/philly super bowl be?
what would be the o/u, 33?
January 11th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
i really hope McNabb wins the SB. guy’s taken so much shit during his career, i’d say he deserves it more than anyone else left in the playoffs.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Ugly. Every member of the media would be rooting for Philly so they could kiss and make up with McNabb and Andy Reid. Columnists would rather take a pay cut than have a rookie QB and rookie head coach win the Super Bowl. Especially when it’s a team with no “stars” from a non-major media market.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
God will determine that.

that bomb to jackson should do it.
more to blame: 4th quarter play calling, Eli’s pick, Carney, or Plax?
whare they without plax, 1-4?
January 11th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Well, a Super Bowl ring isn’t an Oscar, they don’t just give you one for having a long, distinguished career.

I am unloading of UNC…don’t think it will be close, but we’ll see.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
make that ON UNC, not OF UNC.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
more to blame: 4th quarter play calling, Eli’s pick, Carney, or Plax?
None of the above. The G-Men’s inability to get off the field on multiple 3rd downs when the game was 13-11 is the main reason the Giants are cooked in this one.
No idea why they went away from Kevin Boss in the 2nd half…he clearly had a big mismatch vs. Stewart Bradley.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
UNC will win by 20…Wake hasn’t seen a team half as good as UNC this year, and they are what one would call, unseasoned. So…I wouldn’t put too much money on wake.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
Jay – i saw the UNC beat Wake last year big … but did they not play twice? i can’t find the schedule/results from last year.
for some reason, i thought wake beat UNC at home. or was that duke?
January 11th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
I’m rooting for a San Diego v Arizona Super Bowl.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
Well, you had to figure that after the last two years the Mannings were due for two postseason stinkers this season. Peyton sure went out better than Eli, though. Yikes.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:08 pm

January 11th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
Blasphemy! We cannot have a Marmalard vs. Tebow’s brother Super Bowl!
McNabb with fives yard an attempt and two picks on the day. And what’s with Coughlin buttoning up the top button on his polo?
January 11th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
well, UNC doesn’t exactly have the best resume, either. true road game wins: umm … Kentucky? MSU was neutral, and the Spartans were missing the big kid, the ND win was in Maui, and frankly, i dont consider ND as good or balanced a team as Wake (witness losses to OSU and St. John’s). the BC loss looked bad when BC lost to harvard; worse when BC lost at home to miami yesterday.
of course, Wake hasn’t even beaten a ranked team, so …
January 11th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
he got a flag for PICKING UP A PHONE?
and Aikman takes a shot at him?
uh, he’s having fun, you dick? Fuck you, AIkman.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
One’s a sure-fire Hall of Famer. The other had an unbelievable four-game run but an otherwise unremarkable career thus far. Let’s not go off the deep end.

It’s official, TBL just loves QB’s who have fun. Romo, Favre, McNabb. I don’t know, if I’m a GM I want someone who plays the game like they want to rip the other team’s heart out. I want Jordan leading my team, not Drexler.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
wtf??
January 11th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
sanders –
I dont know that i’d call Manning’s run “unbelievable.” The defense carried that team in the postseason. Manning was more poised and confident than any other time in his career, but let’s not heap too much praise on the guy.

Fair enough. He’s a QB. QB’s get way too much credit when a team wins, and way too much blame when they lose. Unless you’re Jake Delhomme or Neil O’Donnell. Those are probably the lone exceptions. Well…and Terry Bradshaw.

January 11th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
Colin Cowherd will verbally felate Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid each for three hours tomorrow (four if you live on the West Coast). I wonder if five or six ESPN analysts will call in to disagree with him the way they did last Monday when he threw Tony Dungy under the biggest bus he could find.

Wake beat Duke at home last year, only played UNC once. And you really want to call the MSU game a neutral site, considering it was at Ford Field.
Again, Wake is not nearly as good as people think. How many Wake games has the average person seen? 1 at most? People are just looking at scores that look impressive, but if you actually saw them play, they’re a raw bunch that is getting by on athleticism alone and show a disturbing lack of defense. UNC is the first team they’ll play all year that can match their athleticism, and at least pays lip service to defense.
Basically, BC caught UNC on the right night, and now people are really down on a team that was destroying people before this one blip. I still think UNC is the best team in the nation, I still think Wake is a fraud, and I still think in the end Duke will end up winning the ACC (I’m a bit biased obviously on that last one). This isn’t college football, losing one game doesn’t destroy your season, nor does it change the fact that UNC is by far the most talented team in the nation.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
just a tad bit of hyperbole, BS. who on earth would pick Drex over Jordan in anything? I was talking about a singular moment. it wasn’t quite Shannon Sharpe when hte Broncos won in New England, but it was funny. Im not a huge Favre fan – i just started to like him when my favorite team got him.
I am a fan of Romo. undrafted guy who was a nobody in college is now the QB of the NFL’s most popular team? He’ll work on his late-season issues and be fine. might even win a super Bowl.

gotta consider the source, man. i only watch his TV show at 10 am because nothing else is on. NOTHING. plus, when he says dumb shit, i can turn it into a post.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
I don’t hate Romo, but I do hate the Cowboys. Their owner/GM should be the one who takes all the blame. He’s the one who ruined his team because of his ego. He’s the one who can’t build a team and who kicks anyone who shows they can (Johnson, Parcells) to the curb. As long as Jerra’s got his hands in the cookie jar, Romo’s fucked.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
With all the grief Reid/McNabb get, they might as well get praise. 5 Conference Title games in their 10 years is pretty damn good.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
That was a bit weird. Well, the Giants suck.
/Hope JPQ doesn’t say that.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
I actually like the guy when it comes to college football and because he talks football all year instead of switching to the NBA or MLB. But last week he basically said Dungy stunk and then guys like Gottlieb, Dilfer, Kuselias and several others called in and explained how he was wrong and he then each time had his producer act as if they were losing reception. I just hate when people make blanket statements about someone and then run away when they’re proven wrong.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
the Giants suck
January 11th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
you’ll either be right on the money here, or way off. really no in-between. do pop back here tonight, i’ll be loitering.
i have a stake in uconn. got odds so good (+2000) that i put $50 and win 1k if the huskies win the title. i took a gamble thinking thabeet was going to stay. also have a futures wager on Gonzaga to win it all that pays $750.
if UNC loses tonight, will you concede that it is wide open?
January 11th, 2009 at 4:29 pm

January 11th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
Well, to be fair, that same guy has “GM’d” his team to three rings.
Congrats to McNabb and Reid. Five NFCC appearances is pretty damn good.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
certainly, I just don’t see it happening. Definitely will be around tonight, already took care of my business today (got a nice price on a hit on Delhomme).

Do I really root for the Cards to make the Super Bowl? Or do I root for the Eagles to make it so they can lose to the Steelers?
Jay Fiedler could have won with all the time McNabb had today.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
Couldn’t agree more, Hernia. I posted something earlier about how similar the Giants showing today was to the Colts’ in the playoffs last year. Right down to the Osi/Freeney season-ending injuries and the Tuck/Mathis playing on one leg. You give a QB all day in the playoffs, you’re going to get beat. Unless they beat themselves.
