The Seahawks Debate: WR or OL?
1-liner, NFL January 26th. 2009, 3:00pmSeattle Seahawks: The NFL combine is next month in Indy, and Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech figures to be a guy who will either cement himself as a Top 10 pick, or fade to the end of the first round. Is he a product of an offensive machine? No WR was taken in the first round in 2008; in 2007, Calvin Johnson (6-5, 235) went 2nd overall, Ted Ginn went 9th, and four went in the 20s (Bowe and Gonzalez have shown the most promise so far). In 2006 Santonio Holmes went 25th, and he’s emerging as a playmaker; in 2005 six WRs were taken in the first round, and only two have shown promise, Braylon Edwards and Roddy White. In that division, one playmaker could easily vault Seattle to the playoffs. It’s gotta be Crabtree. (Seattle P-I)

oh, and if the seahawks were smart, they’d pick one of those stud OT’s to replace walter jones while they’re drafting this high. they won’t be in the top 10 next year thanks to that cream puff division and the fact that there’s no way they’re as bad as they were this season.

Putting a whole lot of faith in an old QB with serious back problems.

Seattle’s first two needs are DT and a safety to replace the worst player in football, Brian Russell. Unfortunately, there isn’t a player at either position that is worthy of that high a pick. Crabtree is the pick over an OT.

Seattle’s O-line has been getting worse every year since Shaun Alexander won MVP. They still have Branch and Burleson(they paid him, have to play him), keeping Matt upright and opening holes for whoever replaces Julius Jones at RB will help this team much more than Crabtree.
