Billy Gillespie Thinks Kentucky Isn’t a One-Man Team, Rebukes ESPN’s Jeannine Edwards for “Bad Question”
College Basketball, Video January 28th. 2009, 2:30pmBilly Gillespie, the foremost expert (currently) on recruiting 8th graders, got a bit huffy last night at halftime when ESPN’s Jeannine Edwards asked a logical question about Ole Miss containing his best scorer, Jodie Meeks. Karma chased Gillespie to the locker room, and finally caught him in the second half as the Wildcats lost to a weak Rebels team, 85-80.
No Bad Questions, Just Bad Reporters (Rush the Court)

Doesn’t seem like a bad question to me.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Yeah. It’s a two man team.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Jeannine Edwards is attractive
January 28th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
This is Kentucky. There’s a legacy. This school won titles before I was here.

Billy G is a grade A asshat dickbag.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Wow, what a dick. Sour milk in your Cheerios this morning, Billy?
Answering those innocuous questions comes with the territory, coach. Maybe he’s feeling a bit over his head and on edge at UK?
January 28th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
good for Billy. I dislike those interviews that take place after the first half
January 28th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Reading these comments you would have thought he bit her head off or something. If that’s him getting huffy I’d be amused to see what he’s like mad.

Yeah answering questions calmly is always the last warning sign before someone snaps
January 28th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Makes me wonder how they’d be doing if they played in a real conference.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
My take on the whole deal.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
Dude, getting pissy with ESPN’s 5th string sideline reporter is just a bit below what you would expect from the head coach of a major college program.
You just don’t behave that way unless you’re Bob Knight.
It’s ultimately not a huge deal as a one-time thing.

Doesnt seem like a bad response either. Who is Graham though CRM and where did that paste job come from?
January 28th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
Jeannine is better at her job than Billy is at his job.
Poor Billy. Kentucky’s not very good. Maybe he wants his binky?

Again, when did get pissy? I’m with irish on this one, response was fine
January 28th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
nevermind CRM. brain fart. Graham is the Ole miss guard
January 28th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
Second link in the post Irish

I’m certainly not going to explain it to you.
The other thing is, other media members notice this crap. Is it really in his best interest to piss these people off when you’re an under-performing coach at Kentucky?
January 28th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
Yeah his response was fine until his last sentence. There was no need to throw a “that’s a bad question” in there.
January 28th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
It was an unclassy move by Gillispie. The question was legitimate.

Billy G is an awful coach… Someone did make a mention of my Butler Bulldogs and their young coach Brad Stevens. It is absolutely ridiculous that nobody has been talking about him more.
They lost 4 of their 5 starters from last years 30-4 team (only returner was a freshman). They start 2 Freshmen, 2 Sophmores and a Junior and are ranked 13th in the country, which is a bit overrated. With one loss by 3 points on the road, to Ohio State.
Stevens record as coach is 48-5… Does anyone realize how absurd that is? Beat Xavier on the road. Beat a good Northwestern team at home. Beat Drake and Bradley. If they had one more big guy this would be a final 4 team.
Thank you

Billy G owes Acie Law his life.

Jeannine is better at her job than Billy is at his job
great input

Down here, the people hate Billy G. He’s a fall down drunk, he’s an asshole to everyone, and he also talks to everyone like they’re trash. I’m sure if he starts winning that will change, though.
January 28th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Billy G made Texas A&M respectable, he may not be the best coach in the nation but he’s not awful
January 28th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Good thing he’s not black or he would’ve been fired already.
January 28th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
You can start and get away with treating people like crap if you have the resume. This should be referred to as the Belichick rule.
January 28th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
Jeannine Edwards needs to go back to the horse farm
January 28th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
This applys to Gary Williams as well.
January 28th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Buckeyes got ‘em!
/Didn’t watch.

I’ve watched Kentucky a bit this year and if it weren’t for Meeks they are like a 15-15 16-13 type of team. It’s kind of fun to watch Meeks just dominate, but if they face a good defensive team in the first round of the NCAA tournament who knows how to slow down another team’s best player, they’ll definitely be beat.
Yes, Patterson is good too, but I don’t know. It just doesn’t seem like a team that could get past the second round in the NCAA tournament.
Which brings up another thought. It seems like Kentucky is always a lock to the NCAA tournament no matter what. They’d probably have to lose 12-13 games to be out. It’s like if they lose 11 games or less they are automatically in.
January 28th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
Where’s Jimmy Dykes clamoring for Meeks to be player of the year? Didn’t quite hear that last night. Maybe because losing to a team that lost by 40 to LSU at home isn’t the ideal way to get noticed.

Same for Davidson and the boy wonder.
