Tough Time to Be … a Sports Writer
ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings January 29th. 2009, 3:45pm
Bad news: ESPN is cutting 200 jobs.
Good news: “Most” of those cuts will be jobs that are already unfilled.
Although top executives won’t see raises, Bodenheimer told the troops that some merit raises will still be available to lower-level staff.
Rough time to be a journalist-for-hire. The New York Times shuttered Play Magazine, we’ve heard Slate has trimmed its sports budget by 25 percent, and ESPN’s not an option for the time being.

Clown, milkmen have got it tougher than ever as well. They’re not even impregnating housewives to produce 6′5” children anymore.

Don’t worry, you can always get a job for BDSSP bumping your chest against other football players at media day.

Grown men who would like to watch sports for a living are having a hard time getting by.
It’s heartbreaking, really.

In case no one has cleared this up before, Spain works for Mouthpiece Sports and to my knowledge has nothing to do with Best Damn Sports Show.

I think ESPN should let fan nation vote off employees.

“I think ESPN should let fan nation vote off employees.”
That would be pretty much the best thing ESPN ever did. Imagine the number of votes…

I can tell you it’s much more complex than that.
