Anybody catch this kid’s story on the CBS News last night? (Hope a CBS reference doesn’t make us sound old; it is our 6:30 news of choice.) The New York Times profiled 7-year-old first-grader Brett Sodetz at the end of December, and we finally got a glimpse of his ability last night. Not bad!

Many parents would love to see their kid to succeed in sports - otherwise, why would parents be paying top dollar to see if their child is best suited for power sports or speed sports? But uprooting the family from Chicago to move to Nevada so their kid can play golf year ’round (four or five times a week), and then spending $20,000 on lessons?

Seems a bit excessive. Fortunately, the parents are balancing his schedule out with other activities like the guitar, karate, and Spanish lessons. But so far, the money has been well spent - last year, Sodetz beat out 1,200 golfers aged six and under to win a golf tournament.

No need to go confusing the kid with Tiger Woods - the greatest golfer in the history of the sport shot a 48 on nine holes at the age of three.
