A Bracket Buster Kind of Weekend
Baseball, NFL February 20th. 2009, 6:30pm
The inquisitive, rebellious mind that will guide you through the weekend is Cousins of Ron Mexico. His turn-ons include bowling, curling, live blogs of live blogs and James Posey. His major turnoff is people who don’t send him neat links. So stay on his good side – you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry. He has a tendance to hurtle energetically from the NFL combine to the bracket busters. Expect a heavy dosage of UFC coverage this weekend. Speaking of, we recently joined an MMA/Boxing class. It’s bananas. Most of the time, while pinned on the mat and wondering how to escape, we think back to some of the lingo used by CRM in UFC posts.
And then, we tap out. Be safe, kids.

TBL vs. CRM in the steel cage! I know TBL is a little guy, so I’ll have to give the edge to CRM for no definable reason.
God, I love the NFL scouting combine. The o-linemen are about to start benching. Those people who say NBA players are the best athletes in the world, I don’t buy it. Some of these DE’s and LB’s, not to mention the RB’s and WR’s, just amaze me. Guys this big and this strong shouldn’t be able to move so fast. And damn, Brian Cushing is one ugly dude.

Oy. I hate Jon Gruden. He has to be up there with Jeff Probst and Ryan Seacrest for most annoying man on TV.

He’s creepy. He gushes about anyone who he considers to have “big ol’ pipes.”

CRM is a curling fan? I have new found respect for him.

Did Tar Baby change his screenname?
February 20th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
tar baby has been banned, and not just because of his name.
curry as a pro? i’d take a chance.

Please. Peppers was a reserve for UNC basketball. Tony Gonzalez was laughed out of a Heat tryout. Basketball players who aren’t good enough to play in the NBA go to find success in the NFL.

Don’t forget Antonio Gates dominated the NCAA Tournament one year and now plays TE.

They weren’t reserves or laughed out because they weren’t great athletes, but because they weren’t great basketball players. Big difference. Drink that NBA Kool-Aid. Tastes like one on one.

cushing = steroid user in college (think he was suspended for it)
im seeing some north-south garbage, though, not weightlifting.
and i think i agree with clown on the NBA athletes.

I would love the Vikings to draft Cushing, roids or no roids.
Reggie Love was a much better football player than bball player, IIRC

So being athletic is only about being strong and fast? Good to know you value hand-eye coordination so highly.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
When did I say anything about hand-eye coordination? If you think NBA players are better athletes, that’s cool. I disagree. But I’m pretty sure Peppers and Gonzalez aren’t lacking in hand-eye coordination. There’s quite a few NBA big men who aren’t exactly “nimble” or display imposing “body control.”
Baseball players probably have the best hand-eye coordination, anyway.

Is there a steroid that enhances that?
