End of an Era at the SEC Tourney
1-liner, College Basketball March 11th. 2009, 11:30amSEC Tournament: It seems likely that this year’s SEC tournament will be the last for Larry Conley and Tom Hammond. ESPN takes over next year. “Conley called continuing to call the games for ESPN a ‘remote possibility.’ Hammond noted that his other employer, NBC, would have to grant permission. Then he added one other requirement. ‘ESPN would want us to do it,’ he said. ‘And they haven’t shown any sign of that.’” The Big Deal will be in Atlanta to wish them goodbye. to get drunk and make bad decisions with cheerleaders at the ACC tournament. The SEC tourney is in Tampa, duh. (Kentucky.com)

I guess Hammond can take solace in being on national TV 8 times this fall. I don’t think SEC fans know that they even have a basketball tournament.

Good riddance to Larry Conley, the biggest UK-homer I know.

@Clown. Oh, we know we have a tournament, we just don’t give a shit. We are about to be in the heart of spring practice and that is all we care about. If you went to every SEC school not named Kentucky and promised top 15 finished for the next 10 years every school would vote to end basketball.

Agreed. There are only 3 sports seasons in the SEC. Football, recruiting/signing day, and spring practice.
