Alex Smith’s NFL career, in a nutshell: San Francisco’s No. 1 draft pick in 2005. Rookie season was a disaster: one TD, 11 picks. Under a new offensive coordinator in 2006, Smith improved … but then got a third offensive coordinator in 2007 and battled injuries, missing nine games. In 2008 – under a new offensive coordinator, of course – JT O’Sullivan was named the starter in the preseason, and a few weeks later, a broken bone was found in Smith’s shoulder, and he sat out the season. Earlier this week, Smith and the 49ers restructured his contract: Instead of collecting $9 million this season, he’ll make somewhere in the neighborhood of $3-4 million.

The good news? That’s his new wife.
