Sunday Roundup: Give Me My Bracket!!!
Baseball, Blogging, College Athletics, College Basketball, Golf, NBA, UFC March 15th. 2009, 5:00pm
The interesting thing about this picture, is that when I right-clicked and saved it at Esquire, the file name was “katy-perry-naked-0409.” I did some further “investigation” and the other three pictures have file names that include “topless,” “hot,” and “bisexual.” Is that more genius or classy? Discuss. You can’t hardly tell Esquire’s trying to attract the Google traffic.

much more interesting than the Cutler story. If Jay keeps this up, he’ll be the next Brett Farve for haters in no time…
March 15th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
What did his parents do, take random letters out of a hat to name this kid?
March 15th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
i hope shogun whips chuck but i doubt he will if he gasses like he did against griffin. and i dont see anybody beating silva but stranger things have happened is leites even worth a damn crm? i have never seen him fight or if i have he wasnt impressive enough to remember.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
somethin tells me he is polish.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Don’t worry, Kansas can’t play any “B†teams anymore.
The non-Whine and Cheese KU fans are going to ensure this assclown is voted out of office. What an idiot.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Fuck Boston.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Polock jokes > blonde jokes
March 15th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
no wonder it took the state of kansas almost 30 yrs to catch btk. the state is lead by idiots.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Fuck my job, I’m running for senator. They get paid for doing dumbshit on a regular basis.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
The NBA’s going to have to step in and pay the Pacers operating costs at Conseco next year, they can’t afford to keep taking a $15 million bath on it and keep the team afloat. Their fault for being greedy and wanting to hog all the profit from the arena. Be interesting to see if Stern steps in or lets them fall on their face and try and find a new home when teams like the Kings and Hornets could be moving anytime, too.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:30 pm
the state is lead by idiots.
Oh, don’t get me started. Once Kathy is confirmed for HHS secretary, I fully expect evolution to be banned when the Republicans own both houses and the Gov spot. Gov. Brownback! Egads, why did I move back to this state?
March 15th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Be interesting to see if Stern steps in or lets them fall on their face and try and find a new home when teams like the Kings and Hornets could be moving anytime, too.
Thank God Tyson Chandler failed his physical. That gives us one more year, if the state finds the money to pay them.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
thats what i hate about the republican party they really dont believe in evolution? they say “well in the bible it says”. however iam more of a conservative then liberal but i there are some things that i just cant agree with.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
Mrejr – I kind of fall with you on the same political lines. I’m claim no party, but I do believe in something called Science. I’m a sheep alone in the wilderness…
March 15th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
KC, do you really think they’ll go there…last time, the board members that pushed intelligent design got booted in the next election. Seems like an issue they wouldn’t touch after that.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
we need a decent actual independent party/candidate who can take the good ideads from boths sides of the aisle and make real change and not just use the word for a campaign slogan.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
I’ll preface this with I am more liberal than conservative, but I find it funny that the religious republicans find selective passages of the bible to observe and then ignore.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
As well as it should, it’s a crock of shit anyway.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
It’ll never happen mrejr…there’s no chance for a third party to ever emerge due to the political structure.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
Tallguy -
But that was the second time that whole process happened in the past decade. It is all cyclical. The christian uber-conservatives are chomping at the bit right now. And last time around, not all of them that pushed the issue were booted. Just enough to swing the majority.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
Ha, yeah we all know our “Creator” started it all, right?
March 15th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
*facepalm*
March 15th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
I don’t know what happen, but it wasn’t evolution.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
KC, maybe…but last time, they got nationally humiliated and lost the court battle pretty badly. If they get anything, it’ll be the “evolution is just a theory” sticker put on all the science books…can’t afford to waste money on stupid legislation that will definitely get challenged.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
Now according to you evo people, tell me this… Why are there still monkeys?
March 15th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
here is the thing though the people that do believe in god should not be made to feel like idiots just because they believe oppossite of what the popular liberal politicos think. and with everyone getting fucking pissed about christmas and all that jazz should just shut the fuck up and stop forcing your ideas on to people. this country has been celebrating christmas forever and now because your jewish or celebrate kwanza your gonna bitch and try to force people to change it or if your atheist your gonna bitch about god being in the pledge of allegiance or on our money? please shut the fuck up about you sensitive bullshit.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
I thought the first post was just missing a /sarcasm tag.
I guess UNC has gotten lax on their requirements to graduate.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
can we quit talking about evolution and finish up Friday’s afternoon’s talk comparing soccer and pedophilia?
March 15th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
Somehow, Calipari committed a violation during this interview.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
There is something called Carbon Dating that proves the earth was created millions, not thousands, of years ago. Just saying.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Calipari is such a snake.
March 15th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Seriously?
March 15th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
Was that a flesh-colored turtle neck?
March 15th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
So I’m allowed to call someone crazy for believing in UFO’s, call someone a moron if they think Lord of The Rings is real, mock someone mercilessly if they think humans and dinosaurs coexisted, but I’m not allowed to think less of someone for believing in God?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
So your argument against evolution is that you have no idea how it works, so it must not. Do you not believe in gravity either?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
I believe in God, but also acknowledge that dinosaurs existed and arent mentioned in the Bible.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Just to be clear, I have nothing against Hannukah or Kwanzaa.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Calipari is such a snake.
Still like him more than Pitino
March 15th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Also, no one’s attacking Christmas…but people attack retailers that dare say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, and say stupid shit like “Remember the reason for the season”…the reason for the season is Christianity moved JC’s birthday to December to give convert Pagans a celebration to take the place of the Winter Solstice.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
What about Hannukah Zombie?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Worst #1 overall seed ever?
Why can’t you believe in God and evolution? I do.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
This actually clears up a lot.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
UConn a #1. Just like they should be.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
Big East slurpfest has begun
March 15th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
you actually think less of people who believe in god? it bothers on that much of a scale that you think you better than them? really? just because they have a difference of opinion? as long as they dont force their ideas on me more power to them.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
Louisville is the number 1 number seed?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
I thought 1 through 3 were about right. I would have Memphis as the 4th 1 seed though.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
Whoa whoa whoa. Are you suggesting that shepherds wouldn’t be outside tending their herds in the middle of winter? Why do you hate America sir?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
I follow this credence…but when’s the last time an atheist tried to convert you? I know I get approached every week at work asking why I don’t go to church.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
GREAT news that Conn avoids Pitt till the final. that was the scariest team Conn could face.
whew.
and louisville as a 1 … meh. just dont scare me
March 15th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
bad start for lunardi … he had Memphis as a No. 1
March 15th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Will Billy Wagner be able to hold up?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
reminder: Not a uconn fan, just gambling-related
March 15th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
No cameras for any bubble teams for CBS? WEAK.
We all want to see disappointment on 18-year-olds’ faces, right?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
Am I not going to associate with them because of it? No, unless they’re someone like 410 who is just batshit crazy anyways. But how come I don’t get any shit for any number of things I could possibly think less of someone for but if I think less of someone because they believe in God I’m a bad guy?
I’ve spent today listening to people talk shit about Duke players strictly because they play for Duke. So it’s okay to think someone is a douchebag and ‘hate’ them because they play for a certain sports team, but believing in an invisible man in the clouds is off limits? Fuck that. I’m entitled to think of people what I want. I’m not pushing my beliefs on them, it’s largely the Christian community that pushes their beliefs on us. When is the last time an atheist group stood in the way of scientific research? When was the last time an atheist group beat someone to death for fucking another guy in the ass? Yes I’m better than those people, and I’m fucking proud of it.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
I believe in God, but also acknowledge that dinosaurs existed and arent mentioned in the Bible.
Same here, generally.
It is hoops time. Enough of the theologically.
/I think I started this.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:08 pm
True Story: Lunardi was the stunt double for Corky on Life Goes On
March 15th, 2009 at 6:08 pm
well tell them the most godless reason you can think of i.e. ” after i killed my entire family and didnt get caught i figured god didnt exist.”
after that they should leave you alone.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:08 pm
I don’t know who started it, but it sure wasn’t you, and I should be listened to for that little bit of knowledge.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
I wonder what Mole thinks of Islam.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
I’m agnostic. I also enjoy cinnamon bun-flavored yogurt and dogs that don’t shed.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
I follow this credence…but when’s the last time an atheist tried to convert you?
Guess you’ve never watched Real Time with Bill Maher
March 15th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Lunardi sucks. the fact they no tout his as not prediciting the bracket but”predicting what the committee will do” shows that he is trying to cover his ass. The analysts on ESPN were grilling him this week about some of his picks and rightly so. I’m sure he’ll just say that he was only “one seed line” off on Memphis.
Stupid ass.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Siena with the 9 seed…nice
March 15th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Ahhhhhhh, the SEC avoids Siena this year.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
after that teams track record it should be assumed that anyone who plays for it is a douche. thats different because we know duke we dont everyone who believes in god.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
arizona in!!!!!!
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
fuck, arizona got in.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
Zona’s in! Pac-10 gets 6!
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
‘Zona in?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
I know people here hate Bill Maher, but I dare you to watch Religulous and not find it funny.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
good draw for wake … i also wonder if OSU can beat Louisville … who is the OSU PG?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
Zona in? I can’t believe it, good news for the pac 10
March 15th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
usc vs. mich state? hmmmm. upset?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
Boston College v. USC
I’ll pencil that one in for primetime
March 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Kansas is going to lose to the Bison
March 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Cleveland St is going to give Wake all kinds of fits. They play slow and defend the hell out of you. They can’t be happy with that kind of opening round game.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
A perfectly fair question Mike, and I am not a fan of it at all. However as I have lived in America almost my entire life, and the majority of that in the south, I haven’t been exposed to it much, so I’m not really used to the idea of Islam being pushed on me. But I certainly don’t buy the whole ‘religion of peace’ thing, I think they’re equally full of shit as Judaism and Christianity as far as any claim of ‘peace’ goes.
Not sure if you saw it, but when I watched Religlous the thing that pissed me off was the Muslims in Holland that had the gall to defend the actions of those who killed over depictions of Muhammad.
I don’t think it’s unfair to generalize this kind of discussion towards Christianity when we live in a Christian society though.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
I’m not a Bill Maher fan, but I enjoyed Religulous.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
peta…all those people are godless.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Damn. North Dakota looks pumped.
WVU will beat KU. Book it.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
wvu in the elite 8?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
Most intriguing opening round game in this quarter is Siena and OSU. Siena is going to push the tempo all night and OSU likes to play at a grind it out pace. It’s one of the few 8/9 games that I will actually watch.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
wvu 42
dayton 38
i can see WVU beating Wake/Louisville in the regional final
March 15th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
ESPN is asking me to login to something called ‘the Q’ to view information on the tourney. Good job dipshits.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
lunardi off to a terrible start. had arizona out, and memphis as a NO. 1.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
#4.
/don’t know his name
//alum’d
March 15th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
What does the Q stand for? Big surprise, I’m not going to watch their show.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Damn. KU with the tough draw. It’ll be a home crowd in Minny though.
Die Huggins!
March 15th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
alright all of this smart talk is making my head hurt.
FUCK DUKE!!!!!!!!!!!
all better now
March 15th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
So, can we expect a Lunardi evaluation post tomorrow I take it?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Come on give Syracuse a 3 seed.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
SON OF A BITCH!
I guess Lunardi’s Bracketology Masters Degree really wasn’t worth dick.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
Definitely taking Northern Iowa
March 15th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
Ha, Purdue gets Northern Iowa.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
No love for the Big 10 tourney winner. Could get ugly further down the bracket
March 15th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Ugh, was thinking the same thing.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Not pleased about that matchup.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
washington homecourt adv against Conn in the reginal final?
great Freshman PG matchup in UW vs. Miss State
March 15th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
NI and MSU fighting for a sweet 16 bid, book it.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Northern Iowa in the Sweet 16?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Maryland comfortably in…
March 15th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
memphis vs. missouri?
that is, assuming memphis gets by MD/Cal
March 15th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Boilers got fucked in the ass
March 15th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
nothing personal mole. you godless hippie.
/that last part was also a joke.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Dee Bost can’t hold Isaiah Thomas’s jock.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
NO! Cornell gets an awful draw. No way they can beat Missouri. they could have knocked off a slow it down team but no chance against Mizzou.
UConn is a humongous favorite in this bracket.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
CBS online doesn’t support firefox? Great way to get users assholes. I don’t feel like going upstairs to watch tv, just give me the fucking bracket.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
NO COMPETITION FOR MEMPHIS? why the fuck is everyone in the tank for cal’s criminals?
need a closer look at cal before picking that MD game … but the MD PG is good enough to handle the Memphis pressure
March 15th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
We so need a Selection Show only thread…
March 15th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Cal might be the most dangerous team in the field. An average shooting night for them is in the 40-50 % range from three.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
General Grievious could beat Memphis by himself, but he could also lose it singlehandedly. You just never know with that guy.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
plus varnardo vs. brockman. big fun!
lunardi post is coming JUST AS SOON AS THE BRACKETS ARE DONE
March 15th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Just got it from netflix I’m watching it tonight when I get off work.
I know excatly how gravity works.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
memphis vs. missouri?
Don’t fall for it. Mizzou played lowest possible seeded teams the entire way through the Big 12 tourney.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Shit. I’m going to have to wait 15 minutes to see where LSU is.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Upsets I’m liking
Maryland
USC
N. Iowa
Arizona
Maybe Dayton
March 15th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
how is the OK STate PG? injured?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Damn FSU got SCREWED…they should’ve been in Miami instead of Boise
March 15th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
The Huskies pound the ball like few other teams. Varnado will be in foul trouble the entire game.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Wisconsin barely in!!! TOLD YOU GUYS! They were bubblicious this whole time.
Minnesota, Michigan and Penn St. might all be out..
March 15th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
These assholes are going to put Duke and UNC in the same bracket aren’t they.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
duke gets to play in greensboro, of course
March 15th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Duke v Binghamton – Tony K has got to love that one.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Duke/Texas.
That may be watchable, since we have to.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
Oh nevermind.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
Awesome matchup for Duke…no starter over 6′6″ in binghamton, and Texas and Minnesota aren’t scary.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
AU got shafted … played UT tough last year i think
March 15th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
Wah wah wah, they won the ACC, should they not get a reward?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
TBL, Duke doesn’t want to be in Greensboro…it’s a defacto road game thanks to the UNC assholes.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
UCLA has to fly across the county to play VCU, then have to figure out how to beat Nova in Philly.
Good luck.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
How does Marquette get a 6 seed. Did the committee not watch their final 7 games?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
why did the committee hook Villanova up so much? gimmie a break
March 15th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
i think Conn and Pitt might be locks for he final 4 at this point
unsure about the midwest
March 15th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Duke, Texas, Villanova, UCLA.
Definitely the “made for TV” bracket.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Nova got a protected seed, where did you want them to go? Portland?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
right. ONLY unc fans will turn up in gbo
March 15th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
TBL, you doing a bracket “contest” again this year?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
st. mary’s, creighton, minnesota, SDSU still on the board …
one has to make it …
March 15th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
ooops, minnesota is in
March 15th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
This is hilarious.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
i think i nailed the field! 65-for-65!
March 15th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
UNC, Oklahoma, Gonzaga, Syracuse, Illinois are all going to be in this bracket..
March 15th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
If it’s between St. Mary’s and Creighton, it has to be St. Mary’s.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
TBL, there’s more UNC alumni in North Carolina than there are Duke alumni worldwide. The last time both were in the same subregional, it was a decidedly anti-Duke crowd. No reason to think it’ll be different this time, considering that UNC fans knew their team would be in Greensboro before the season started.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
one of moleman’s peeps is being released from jail
March 15th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
This committee HATED the SEC and Big 10.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Butler is only a 9? They were a top 25 team ALL YEAR
March 15th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Butler jobbed again.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
A 12-seed is nothing new to WKU.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Shit, Illinois will lose to WKU.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
The highest seed in the SEC is an 8. Well no shit they’re all gonna be out by the weekend. Self-fulfilling prophecy. Assholes.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Gonzaga in Portland!
WOW!
March 15th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
illinois will probably get smoked by the hilltoppers…
March 15th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
How is Illinois a 5?
March 15th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Those people are idiots, though they did provide the plot for some solid Dirty Harry movies.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Butler got raped.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Butler taking down UNC, you heard it here first.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
A 3 seed! THANK YOU 6 OTS!
March 15th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Temple over ASU, book it.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
new post is up
us: 65-for-65
lunardi 63-fo-65
March 15th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Butler is a top 40 team at best.
/KenPom’d
March 15th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Got ‘em all but San Diego State.
Glad to see Creighton left out.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Damn, no PSU, St. Marys or Creighton.
