ESPN Debate: Jay Bilas Makes Dick Vitale Feel Old, Hopelessly Out-of-Touch
ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings, Video March 16th. 2009, 9:00amPassionate hand-clasper Dick Vitale’s “feels bad for” St. Mary’s, and that the Gaels and mid-majors can’t schedule the high-majors, just like he couldn’t when he was coaching in the 1970’s. “It’s not fair!” he cries. Jay Bilas, around the 2:10 mark, counters with, “Dick you went that route 30 years ago … you’re wrong.” Burn!
Around the 3:55 mark, Vitale flippantly concedes, “… I know [Bilas] went to Duke, and I didn’t go to Duke …” which elicits some maniacal laughter from Bilas, who can be heard off camera saying, “oh, he pulls Duke card.” Great TV.
And the press release with all the announcing pairs was sent wide out last night. Gus Johnson, thankfully, has a great set of teams.

Bilas is the best guy on that entire network.

If North Dakota State can give Kansas a game, that’s an easy pick for this year’s Gus Johnson moment.

Ben Woodside, baby!

If Bilas worked in college football he’d have been the guy saying Utah didn’t deserve to be on the same field as an SEC team (which ironically became a mid-major basketball conference this season)

The brackets works for me, but I’m already logged in. Try going fantasysports.yahoo.com and then search for 57560 in the hoops section.

Nevermind. I see what you guys are saying. Chalk it up to Yahoo put this on a Romanian server. I’m sure they’ll get it working soon. I’m in another Yahoo group and was able to pick teams last night.

Did Vitale mention the “Bald Dome Index” or whatever he calls it? I’m not sure if I heard him say that last night. He’s always good for at least one mention of that. I thought this was weird though…in years past doesn’t Vitale always stick up for the “BCS” type schools? Then there is coach Knight who wants to expand the tournament by one game for everyone to let more teams in. Good theory, but there would be a bunch of crap teams in then.

You have to be logged into Yahoo to be able to make your picks — otherwise you get a blank bracket.
