You Know Things Are Bad When the Notre Dame Fans Are Clowning Your New QB
College Football March 18th. 2009, 1:00pm
Those wily Notre Dame fans. They’ve gotten their hands on this photo of a freshman Tate Forcier, a candidate for Michigan’s quarterback opening. He’s listed at 6-foot-1, 185-lbs, and based on this photo, appears to have tiny arms. A sampling of responses:
* Calista Flockhart has bigger arms than he has.
* This guy better have the Force with him, because he is built like little Ani in Episode 1.
* Think of the bullet dodging that can be had with that frame.
We eagerly await Michigan putting satin-jacket wearing, underachieving Jimmy Clausen on blast. Wolverines fans might want to hurry up – this could finally be the year Clausen and the Irish get their act together. Of course, everyone heard that same tune last year …

C’mon, TBL, everyone knows BLUE is a slimming color….
Holy cow, that guy is my team’s savior next year? Pardon me while I grab a kleenex.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
They’ve gotten their hands on this
link isn’t working
March 18th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Fuck Notre Dame.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Stop hating, hes good for at least 5 wins next year.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Aren’t you really making fun of yourself here? A specific Star Wars reference? I mean, really?
March 18th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Good news, word has it that this is a photo from 5 years ago, with Tate dressing as his favorite Wolverine QB for Halloween.
Whew, that was close.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
uh oh…if that’s the case, he has ESP or something. how did he know they were going to adidas and schutt helmets 5 years ago?
he must be clairvoyant.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
that wasnt nitpicky or anything.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
This isn’t news. TBL just runs this stuff to get hits…
/maggs’d
March 18th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
i was just goofing around…not trying to pick on michigan or anything.
/but yea, that kid is going to get destroyed
March 18th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
The picture I can’t see doesn’t bother me, but THIS sure would. Congrats, Michigan, you signed the douchiest guy in the world

Notre Dame eats cock.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
jpq – wow. That is some serious douchebaggery.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
@OUMike: I posted that link after seeing two or three pages. I just looked at like 8 more, and my mouth will not close. i am amazed at the level of dislike I have built up for someone I only know through the interwebs. This page is a classic…

March 18th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
michigan? signing a total dickbag?
GET OUTTA HERE.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Holy shit jpq, that’s unreal.
I can’t believe somebody almost as skinny as me is gonna be Michigan’s QB. Don’t see that often from non-runners. Good work, Rich.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
spencer: but this is to a level I thought unachievable. Do all these overhyped, pampered douchebags (Bryce Brown, Pryor, etc) all have sites like this? God i hope not
March 18th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
They probably do have sites, but they can’t be like this. Nothing is. Besides, who else in their right mind would attach their name to something like this? Sweet Jesus.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
pryor had one that had his accomplishments and shit on it. it was pretty douchebaggy too, but it’s easier to accept a douchebag when he’s a 6′6″, 230 lb freak of nature…
…and he’s suiting up for your team.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Well, spence, he is going to Michigan for chrissakes.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
I love it when TBl baits Maggs.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
jpq – my mouth is aghast. I was no Michigan fan before… but I cannot root for them with good conscience with him on the squad. Wow.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
I love it when TBl baits Maggs.
@KC: Somewhere in Michigan an IP address is getting overloaded trying to get 50 scathing posts through TBL’s block of said IP address
March 18th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Where is Maggs, anyway?
Is he seriously banned? Anybody know what thread it was?
March 18th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Mike misses his buddy Maggs
March 18th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
It was like 5 threads. I want him back just for the laughs. It was hysterical.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
f Tate Forcier wins some fucking games, I don’t care. He’s 18. I’m sure Pat White was a similar build.
And fuck Notre Dame. The only thing worse than Notre Dame football is Notre Dame football fans. Always has been true, always will be true. Fuck them, too.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
If I’m not mistaken, Maggs’ ban is self-imposed.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Same here, it was always hilarious.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
It is a self-imposed ban. He would pop in every now and again. I wish he’d come back also.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
That kid looks like he’s from twisted together pipe cleaners.
But still it’s not like Notre Dame’s defense will actually get to him.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
This is actually kind of cool to see what offer letters look like.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
No, but others in the Big Ten will. If he were a drop back passer, he might have a chance. But running around in RichRod’s “offense”? He’s going to get broken in half. Please see the Sam McGuffie experiment as a case study.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
As a UM fan, I do have to admit that the Forcier family’s QB website is a little over the top.
But as they say, it ain’t braggin’ if you done it.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
I wish it included how much cash was in each envelope.
March 18th, 2009 at 1:57 pm

This was the beginning of the end, as I recall. It was self-imposed, but after this one and another, I think it was “forced”, but not sure

March 18th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Probably not smart to leave the address on there though.
March 18th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
There’s a lot of things on that website that aren’t all that smart.
March 18th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
Like it or not, this is going to be the QB this year. I see no way that Sheridan is going to be the starter.
Like ND has anything to laugh at. I’ll bet my left nut he is better than Ron Pawlus or a slew of other recent QB’s from that crappy has-been school in South Bend.
March 18th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Threet was an after-thought walk-on and played like it. This kid was a 4-star recruit and got a scholarship. I’m willing to give him a shot.
Notre Dame hasn’t won a meaningful bowl game since the 1994 Cotton Bowl.
Since then, Michigan has won the Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl, two Citrus Bowls, beaten Florida twice and won a National Title. And that doesn’t include seasons where they started 12-0 or went down to the wire with Vince Young-led Texas. Wake me up when Notre Dame is relevant.
March 18th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Is this post a plea to get Maggs back?
March 18th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
must resist urge to mention appy state and toledo home losses…
phew, that was close.
March 18th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
and when was the size of the kids arm determine if they are good qb’s or bot.
Ken Dorsey and Steve Walsh did pretty well.

Correction: 1/2 National Title
March 18th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
sorry for the double post
March 18th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
im pretty sure being surrounded by like 20 future first rounders determined if dorsey was going to be successful. which, of course he was.
March 18th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
It’ll be this year. They’ll lose two games, tops.
Jimmy.
March 18th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
Arm size and strength is a plus for a quarterback yet the record shows it is severely overrated. John Elway and Brett Favre messed up public perception in the 1990s with 3 Super Bowl wins between them after Dan Marino and Jim Kelly with zero. Kyle Boller for example probably has the strongest arm in being able to throw from midfield through the goal posts on his KNEES, but what has he done? Duffy, 1994 was my senior year at ND and you are right no quality bowl wins or solid teams all season since then for that matter with only a few solid victories here and there and way too many games lost that should have been won even at home. The jury is out now on Pat White with about the same build at that age, but unlike for other predominantly rushing quarterbacks out of college, I am optimistic.
March 18th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
what do super bowls have to do with how good an individual QB is?
/rehashing the earlier argument
March 18th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Thanks, JPQ.
I’m pretty excited to read that thread.

Wooops wrong post
March 18th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
Spencer, though no required, it’s that much harder to get into the HOF without a Super Bowl under your belt. And consider the miserable overall career of Joe Namath who is in whilst Phil Simms, with one plus one in which he was injured the rest of the season, is not in. Test for you — name ONE quarterback since John Elway 1998 whom you think would be nominated for the Hall of Fame who is without a super bowl victory under their belt? Exactly, and there are a few with a super bowl with otherwise mediocre careers who won’t be either in mind you. Warren Moon was the last whom I remember to get in without a Super Bowl whom some have howled about, but he deserved it though he was not as solid as Kelly or Marino.
March 18th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
paolo…you’re missing the point entirely.
a super bowl is not a QB achievement. having a super bowl doesn’t mean you’re a good QB…joe namath wasn’t a good QB, trent dilfer wasn’t a good QB, ben roethlisberger isn’t a good QB. phil simms isn’t out because he wasn’t good enough to get in. terry bradshaw is in the HoF, but he wasn’t that good at all.
a super bowl is a team achievement. a team’s record isn’t an indicator of how good a QB is, it’s an indicator of how good a TEAM is.
are you asking who i’d think would get in if they didn’t have a ring? if peyton or favre didn’t have rings, they’d both still get in.
March 18th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
Spencer I think you are missing the key point and until you can prove otherwise with an example since 1998 of a good quarterback without a Super Bowl under their belt, we have to agree to disagree on this one. No Super Bowls since Elway 1998 = No HOF. I agree with you that winning a Super Bowl does not a good quarterback make, but not winning one in this age does not make a good quarterback either. Want to make an argument for Steve McNair who was only one yard away? Good luck. I’ll take Roethlisberger over him any day as well as Phil Simms and Terry Bradshaw and so would many. We’ll take the Super Bowl wins and you can cry about your superior stats. Simms’ window for the HOF is closed or closing at best, and that is a real injustice. Roethlisberger has mediocre stats but is a winner. Tom Brady has non-stellar stats before his record TD pass season, and so did Joe Montana, but they were winners and there is no argument on Brady any more after 3 Super Bowl wins. You can count your yards or TDs whatever for a quarterback, but I’ll count the Super Bowl wins in this age since 1998 until we see another Marino or Kelly or Tarkenton (Pat White? A come back from Vick?). What’s the object of the game for a QB, the leader of the offense? And you resorted to hypotheticals on Favre and Manning because you could not get real with a single example for my question, so you proved my point thanks.
