Derrek Lee Didn’t Like MLB Pressuring Him to Play in the WBC
1-liner, Baseball March 23rd. 2009, 2:15pmDerrek Lee and the WBC: “[MLB] started calling me. They needed a first baseman. But I couldn’t go, not being 100 percent. I thought it was disrespectful, to be truthful. They knew I wasn’t playing here [in camp]. How do they expect me to get off the trainer’s table and start playing there?” (Chicago Tribune)

WBC needs to go away. I’d much rather watch spring training games. But I’m damn sure not watching Taipei play at four in the morning.

yea terrible move by USA baseball calling and asking Lee if he wants to play. yea they should be monitoring the cubs training room to see how injured he was. and they should know better than to be polite and ask him. oh heavens

Don’t you ususally play the “disrespect card” when you DON’T get asked to play?
I fucking HATED that guy when he was with the Marlins. He was like A-Rod: solo homer in third of a 8-2 loss, game-ending double play in 9th w/ winning run on 3rd in the 9th.
