When the President Comes to the Clubhouse
1-liner, Baseball, Politics March 25th. 2009, 12:45pmAstros Get Autograph of Elder Bush: “Former President George H.W. Bush toured the Astros’ clubhouse at Osceola County Stadium, taking time to sign autographs and chat with special instructor Jeff Bagwell, Carlos Lee, Miguel Tejada, Ivan Rodriguez and several other players. Accustomed to fielding requests for their signatures, several Astros approached Bush with baseballs and pens in hopes of an autograph, which the 41st president capped with a No. 41. ‘It’s a big deal,’ pitcher Russ Ortiz said. ‘I mean for one it’s not every day that you get a signed baseball from a president of the United States. Just to know that he’s a fan of baseball and especially this team I think it’s pretty cool.’ (Houston Chronicle)

I see him and Barb at Disastro games all the time. They have primo seats right behind the plate.

Maybe it’s just me, but I always preferred watching a baseball game from the first base or third base side and didn’t think sitting directly behind homeplate was all that big a deal. I just don’t get why those are considered ‘good’ seats in most ballparks.

Couldn’t agree more. First base line is where all the action takes place. You get a good view of the pitch height, and the baserunner/batter HAS to go to 1st base in the event of a struck ball/walk/that rule about a dropped 3rd strike pitch where the batter can run to 1st base(whatever the hell its called).
