Hopefully, You Didn’t Fall for the PTI Joke
2009 Culture Tournament, NBA, TV April 1st. 2009, 6:30pm
As we head into the final TV timeout, it’s looking like we’ll have Megan Fox – aka Angelina Jolie Jr. – in the 2009 Culture Bracket finals against defending champ Erin Andrews. Tonight is your last chance to vote. Admit it – part of you wishes Andrews would forgo her final two years of eligibility and leap to the pros and given everyone else a chance. A few readers have convinced us – next year we’ll shepherd all the females into one bracket and give everyone else a shot at the Final Four.
The final will begin Friday and last through Monday – the screen-grab superstar Sports Hernia is on tap this weekend – when we crown the champ.
Unrelated: Thaddeus Young, who has been great for the 76ers in recent weeks, is on the shelf for the remainder of the regular season, and perhaps some of the playoffs. Good luck stealing that 5th seed and avoiding Boston in the first round.
Unrelated II: PTI opened up with a pretty convincing April Fool’s Day effort.

Overexposed/overrated vs. overexposed/overrated. Nobody wins in that.

Oregon is keeping Ernie Kent. That sound you just heard was the rest of the Pac-10 cheering.
April 1st, 2009 at 6:49 pm
This leaked copy of Wolverine is hilarious. The CGI isn’t done and people are running around with wires and shit.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Who could’ve possibly believed the PTI opening?
April 1st, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Yeah, that was pretty weak. I remember falling for it last year though, it was something about KU — maybe like they had to replay the last few minutes of the Davidson game or something.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:12 pm
MSU Spartans are just setting off to Motown on the bus. Students were there to see them off. LET’S GO STATE
April 1st, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I knew the PTI thing was coming this year, but last year, I fell for it 100%. The gag was that the Kansas / davidson game had to have the last 18 seconds replayed because of a foulout on Kansas. This year, not so much.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:16 pm
Hey TBL, where’s the Lost Post anyway, it’s getting late.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:24 pm
Lost isn’t on for another four and a half hours. He’s got plenty of time.

Just another reason for me to like Fox even less…
April 1st, 2009 at 7:31 pm
cassino – while I don’t disagree with you about Kent, don’t you think he at least deserved another year?
April 1st, 2009 at 7:32 pm
Trent Dilfer wins one super bowl on the coattails of one of the greatest defenses in the history of the NFL, and tries to tell me Cutler doesn’t have the “intangibles” to help a team? Are you fucking kidding me? What fucking intangible did you bring to the Ravens, other than getting replaced immediately after season?
April 1st, 2009 at 7:33 pm
Fuck yea, i watched it this afternoon, hysterical. Wasn’t awful, wasn’t good either though.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Absolutely. The players seem to love him, and they were real young. If they let him go they probably lose some kids, and I think they’ll be much improved next year. So yeah, I don’t disagree with bringing him back and letting those kids grow with him.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:44 pm
Oh, and QQ, good luck tonight. Bring home the hardware.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:45 pm
I just don’t get how a person can go up against an event, that makes no logical sense.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:46 pm
I agree that he is a poor in-game coach (probably the worst in the conference) but the guy can recruit and his team was very young this year.
April 1st, 2009 at 7:48 pm
I can’t believe we haven’t got a CBI post yet! ECB.

wow Tim Howard, that was dangerous.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Renardo Sidney looks like garbage in the high school all america game.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:10 pm
come Jozy, let’s get a goal tonight
April 1st, 2009 at 8:12 pm
ha!
and jozy scores on a wicked cross!!!
April 1st, 2009 at 8:13 pm
ching to donovan with the cross to Jozy, who puts it away
the kid can finish!
April 1st, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Of course I miss it while watching a JD-less Scrubs.
Though the Turk rant about Disneyland was pretty awesome…
April 1st, 2009 at 8:16 pm
I’m convinced Renardo Sidney is going to suck at the next level. The first two possessions he missed a shot, then got blocked, and since then he’s been floating around the 3 point line, and has taken a couple outside shots.
I know all star games like this aren’t a good way to judge players, but he looks slow, fat and lazy.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:20 pm
what happened to JD? Braff get too big for the show?
April 1st, 2009 at 8:22 pm
Every main cast member is taking 2 episodes off to cut costs for this season.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:25 pm
Not a big fan of my girl and Jett Jackson doing the nasty
April 1st, 2009 at 8:28 pm
heard this weeks episode of lost is Kate-centric. Glad I got a fantasy draft tonight.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:41 pm
oh man you gotta cash that, kid
April 1st, 2009 at 8:42 pm
So the new Streak for the Cash format eliminated the hypothetical “Bet against your pick and win either way” scenario.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:45 pm
they better do dead pool some justice. i hope that wasnt the ending for his character.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:48 pm
I hope Tim Riggins has to use a ridiculous cajun accent. I’d pay to watch that.
April 1st, 2009 at 8:50 pm

Boooooooo.

Fellow LOST nerds – Here’s a radio interview yesterday with the actor who plays Young Ben. He’s 13 and knows his LOST stuff and gives some theories and might’ve given away a little too much. I wouldn’t call this 10 minute-ish interview full of spoilers, but there are some interesting theories. TAke a listen before the show comes on…

i took the East in streak for cash. looked awful in the final 2 mins of the half i just watched.
at least the plumee kid going to duke isn’t a stiff. thin as expected, but athletic
April 1st, 2009 at 9:09 pm
mrejr
- They’re supposedly going to give Deadpool his own series, and Ryan Reynolds will actually talk in those. And Riggins kinda does a Cajun accent, but it is pretty awful, as is his performance. He’s basically Riggins with a bunch of playing cards. Not sure I’m ready to jump on the Taylor Kitsch as movie star bandwagon.
April 1st, 2009 at 9:15 pm
God, why would you ever try and bet on the mcdonald’s game? It’s a true “I’m going to get mine, screw the rest of you” game.
April 1st, 2009 at 9:17 pm
Even the announcers aren’t even paying attention to the game…they just talked straight through Plumlee’s inbounds score.
April 1st, 2009 at 9:19 pm
tallguy – He just did the Streak for Cash. No real money was exchanged.
April 1st, 2009 at 9:22 pm
jack just sounded like locke.
April 1st, 2009 at 9:22 pm
LOL!
I thought TBL was playing Steak for cash.
April 1st, 2009 at 9:34 pm
Great banter there between Hurley and Miles. It’s basically what we’ve talked about since we found out the Losties were stuck in Dharma 1977. Sounds like we’ve got the butterfly effect here, no?
April 1st, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Jozy with another! Good to see Bob Bradley experimenting and giving jozy the start and moving donovan out wide. He’s played well tonight
April 1st, 2009 at 9:51 pm
aight sorry had to go get some food.the wolverine movie was underwhelming and couldve been alot better. more deadpool…this movie probably should have come out before x-men instead of after. the little cyclops plot was kinda stupid.
April 1st, 2009 at 9:51 pm
Thought the same, Sponge.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:02 pm
Cannot believe I actually watched that entire second half. I am ashamed of myself now.
At least Plumlee looks like he might not be the worst player in the ACC next year.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:03 pm
That was not the best episode ever, but considering I guess we had to have a Kate episode, it could have been much worse.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:04 pm
mrejr8234 – can you please explain to me what’s going on?
April 1st, 2009 at 10:06 pm
Ah yeah, I’d be fine with either Xavier or Stephenson.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:07 pm
That was not the best episode ever, but considering I guess we had to have a Kate episode, it could have been much worse.
gfunk – We got some good stuff this show. Explained what happened to Aaron (I think we all sort of knew he was going to real gma), got an understanding of what this what happened, happened stuff is (thank you Miles and Hurley), and got to understand what happened to Ben (Alpert said: He’ll never be the same. He’ll lose his innocence.)
April 1st, 2009 at 10:07 pm
just took extensive, losery notes on LOST
loved it!
working on the post for tomorrow now. i gots theories!

I cannot wait, TBL. After just a few lulls this season (and I still enjoyed every minute of it), this show has really picked up the past few episodes. With five (?) episodes left this season, we’re getting set up for a monster finish.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:12 pm
Yeah, there was definitely some good stuff. Like you said, we knew Kate came back because Aaron was gone, giving him to Claire’s mom was pretty predictable. And yeah that dialogue between Miles and Hurley was great. And I’m glad to know how Ben got to the Hostiles, although honestly I probably would have preferred it if Sayid had just taken him there. It seemed weird that Kate formed that little friendship with Roger, and then didn’t even think twice before just handing him over to Richard after he said Ben would never be the same.
Did you think that when Richard said, “We’ll forget what happened” (paraphrase), that was to explain why Ben doesn’t remember Sayid in 2007? I hope not, I’d prefer for Ben to have remembered and have it all be part of his master plan.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:14 pm
I definitely agree with that though.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:19 pm
I think Ben knows Sayid in 2004-2007 as Hurley implied to Miles about when Ben was captured and (sort of) tortured by Sayid in Season 2.
Remember in last week’s episode – ‘He’s our you’ – Ben and SAyid’s dialogue in the half-built houses in the DR. Ben said something to the effect of, ‘You’re a killer Sayid. You always have been,’ to which Sayid responded, ‘You know nothing of me,’ to which Ben slightly sarcastically rebutted, ‘Oh, I guess I was wrong about you.’
I recall Ben as always saying he was born on The Island, when he actually wasn’t. Perhaps part of Young Ben’s memory is erased as implied by Richard Alpert. Didn’t Alpert also say to Sawyer/KAte, ‘He’ll always be one of us’ if they turn him over. Hmmmmmm………….
My basic theory is this… Because Ben was shot as a child, there’s been some sort of butterfly effect. The Losties (Jack, Sawyer, etc.) will have to fix this or something bad is going to happen. Yeah, basic, I know. Ha ha.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:25 pm
so Widmore runs the others
April 1st, 2009 at 10:26 pm
That was not the best episode ever, but considering I guess we had to have a Kate episode, it could have been much worse.
I was pleasantly surprised. Not bad. Nice twist with Clemintine and her momma. Is next week the week we figure out the monster/smoke/whateverthefuck? Is next week a Locke episode or are they going to hold that off until the last couple episodes?
April 1st, 2009 at 10:27 pm
You caught that, too, sponge? Who was the first name that guy said to Alpert? It was a name, then it was Widmore, to which Richard responded something like, ‘I don’t answer to him.’
Nice.
Also, that was the temple (where Smokey has been known to hang out) that Richard took Young Ben into, right?
April 1st, 2009 at 10:27 pm
my big question: is this REALLY how ben got to the hostiles?
didnt kate and sawyer just change everything?
April 1st, 2009 at 10:27 pm
so Widmore runs the others
I was wrestling with a beverage and missed the whisper. Who did the Other with a gun say to Richard that they should ask before taking in Ben from Kate/Sawyer?
April 1st, 2009 at 10:29 pm
Richard certainly sounded defensive when he said he didn’t answer to them, but I have to think he’s still basically in charge. I’m guessing the next couple weeks will be about Locke and 2007 Ben, and the final episodes will be about Young Ben/Widmore and the purge and incident.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:29 pm
they said “did you run this by (name i couldnt catch) and Charles?”
April 1st, 2009 at 10:31 pm
I think it was Ellie
April 1st, 2009 at 10:31 pm
if so, the hostiles basically train ben to go in and kill the entire dharma compound?
i dont think this is how ben got there. if not for kate and juliet, would dharma have sent the injured kid TO THE HATED OTHERS??
April 1st, 2009 at 10:31 pm
ndub i was having a convo with bsanders about the wolverine movie that is coming out.
April 1st, 2009 at 10:34 pm
yes, Ellie, the old lady in the church (in 2007)
April 1st, 2009 at 10:53 pm
faraday’s mother?
April 1st, 2009 at 11:16 pm
Question… we know where Widmore and Ben are coming from… what is Richard’s past? He is always the same age. He had to come from somewhere.
Also, when Richard took Ben from Sawyer/Kate, I was thinking he was taking him to Jack’s dad. Makes no sense, but that is what I was expecting. A surgeon. Although, no clue how that fits in with the story. Way outside shot… Jack’s grandpa, which means I’ve thought about this too much.
April 1st, 2009 at 11:28 pm
I thought that too for a second.
Re: Richard, I have absolutely no idea why he’s always the same age. I still think he was probably on the Black Rock and that he’s always the same age because of time travel, but…that’s about it.
What do you mean about Jack’s Grandpa?
April 2nd, 2009 at 2:24 am
Tim Floyd to Arizona.
