Final Four Open Thread #1: UConn at Michigan State
College Basketball April 4th. 2009, 5:45pm
Tough game to call tonight. First, you have Michigan State playing less than two hours from East Lansing with their “these are hard times, let’s do it for Detroit!” rally cry, and then you have Calhoun’s boys riding that Tupac “me against the world” theme with some serious swagger.
The fact that I’ve heard “you just can’t bet against Izzo in March” at least 50 times this week makes me think the Spartans’ run definitely ends tonight. But the fact that I just wrote that makes me think they’re moving onto the final.
Then again, the fact that the media keeps harping on the overwhelming amount of green expected in the home of the vaunted Lions this evening makes me think the Huskies ruin the party.
Either way, Detroit is going apeshit tonight.
One thing we know for sure: Mateen Cleaves has his rally towel ready.
Another thing we know for sure: The inevitable Magic Johnson interview will make you hump the fridge.

It’s just me for whatever reason being concerned for this guy. An athletic 7″3″ guy with excellent blocking timing who has shown a couple post moves. I really do feel like he could do well with one more year being the man on offense before he takes on the big guys. Shit, even you TBL say that going into Thabeet and trying to win games that way is a bad idea. The kid needs a little more confidence before he gets to the show. But you guys are probably right. They win a chip, he’s outta here (If he’s not already).
