Ah don’t be hatin’ (that much?) Sparty …I called it earlier this week in a post when JPQ raised the matter… too bad such a common sense solution could not have prevailed easily in Detroit on Good Friday.
C’mon with men like Katz, Tannenbaum, Greenberg, and even a Congressman Weinberg in on the mix we saw this coming for an easy adjustment right?

But really, missing the second half of a Jewts home game wouldn’t have been enough punishment for killing Jesus. Of course, the Jews vs. Jesus was kind of like the 2004 ALCS. The Jews jumped out to a 3-0 lead, then Jesus stormed back to take the title a few short days later.

Agreed in principle Sparty.
If folks were going to raise the issue of religion, I wish at least they were consistent.
In our country most folks are not consistent on religion whilst professing in the same breath that they believe in “Freedom of Religion.”
And if folks are not going to raise the issue of religion, that’s fine too with me.
But at least be consistent instead of cherry-picking and determining that it’s ok to offend some more than others.

I like TBL’s wife’s taste in movies. Should try and see if she’s up for State of Play, I hear it’s a solid journalistic thriller, maybe the last one we’ll see until the profession reinvents itself. The BBC miniseries it’s based on was fantastic.

Definitely, I have the Criterion Collection of it. Noah Baumbach’s debut film – awesome. Perfectly captures that “just graduated from college” ennui. It’s an Ivy League version of Reality Bites, only no Lisa Loeb.

Is he actually known as “The Stath”? Lock, Stock, Snatch and The Bank Job are all solid, shit even The Italian Job is good in a forgettable way, but the rest of his movies are really bad. He’s ripped as shit, though. Former world-ranked swimmer in the UK, I believe. I think Van Damme’s an apt comparison for the physicality present in the movies of each, yet Statham’s onscreen persona is more in line with Seagal’s. Man, I love me some bad 80’s action movies.

I’ll check those other film recommendations on Statham, not having seen even “The Transporter” series yet as I am hardly a movie buff as you can tell, but if you have not seen either of those films I mentioned either you don’t get it or just don’t like British films with their dry plots and humour.
In other words for the latter, you probably need all your jokes with the punchlines filled in for you, as they do definitely in the South with their awful canned brand of redneck humour with absolutely no wit to it. See Larry The Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy, et cetera. Not Funny.

True Story: In 2006, I was working security in a jewellery store at the Bellagio, and in walks this dude that was about 6-7 or so in his cowboy boots and a blazer, weighing somewhere in the high 200s, and with a pony tail in the back but in a tough way. He was looking at the vitrine, or little displays windows. Right about when I recognised him as Seagal and looked at him, he glanced at me and knew I recognised him, but we played it cool from there. He walked out without incident or recognition from anyone else.
He’s a badass in real life too.

In 1989, I was in Caesar’s in Las Vegas, playing the slots at an end slot machine, when this huge commotion starts up at the front of the room. All of a sudden, a group of about 30 people (29 men and 1 woman) start walking towards me going like 20 MPH.
As they get closer, I see the woman is Madonna and her bodyguards, and also in the mass of humanity is Warren Beatty, who she was doing at the time (Dick Tracy). As she gets directly next to me (2 feet away), my slot machine hits, all the buzzers and sirens go off, and I win $1,300. I thanked her for the good luck, and she rolled her eyes and kept walking like I was a piece of shit.
All I could think of was Warren Beatty must be the most pathetic tail chaser in history to be in a group of 29 guys 10 feet behind her and still following her around just to get laid. (Either that, or she sucked a mean dick)

Stick with MGM properties, so long as they don’t go banrkupt I guess. Mandalay Bay is my preferred place for everything but betting on football. I go off-Strip for that action.
If you Wynn or Venetian or Palazzo, you’ll get the tightest action and priciest everything on the Strip, but go if you get a great deal on a room or for a business meeting, as their facilities are the best for business.

If you like a place that tends to have fewer families in the casino and night life areas, try “Mandalay Bay”; also they have the only pool with real sand and fake waves on the Strip.
If your girl wants something more serene, Bellagio.
If you want to save money but still have a great location, Treasure Island.
The first two are MGM properties. Treasure Island was sold last year to private ownership.
Watch the news on MGM Mirage to see if it is going bankrupt first. Then pun intended all bets are off.

Also, a huge FUCK YOU to NBC for ordering the Penguins to not show game three on the big screen outside Mellon. They claim it’s against their rules to allow it. However they did it for the entire playoffs last year and there were multiple NBC games shown, and the contract with the NHL was not renegotiated this year. So way to kill a cool thing they had going you assholes.

Mean Machine is awesome. Remake of The Longest Yard (before the abortion Sandler one) that had Vinne Jones as the main character, Statham plays the goalie (it’s a soccer version obviously).
And Green Street Hooligans was terrible. Not only was it just a bad movie, it made it out as if West Ham actually was good, and it glorified hooliganism absurdly. Football Factory is a much better movie, it’s more realistic and in the end the protagonist doesn’t walk away singing ‘forever blowing bubbles’ like a cunt.

Football’s the only game for any small-time $action for me. In Vegas it seems to be the most popular for betting action too.
The best time to be in Las Vegas in my view.
It’s the only major pro game in which scores are normally 3 or 7 points at a time instead of only 1 or 2, so you have more room to play with points.
However by week 7 or so the handicappers are too good in the NFL until the playoffs.
In college football, the early part of the season with the non-conference schedule is great, as a lot of the dumb money drives the lines just like those stupid pre-season and early season polls.
Anyone who bets regularly will tell you that the best bets are when the people are wrong and beating with groupthink.
For example consider those who bet against the Cardinals all of the playoffs because to any East Coaster it was “unimaginable” that they could be in the Super Bowl. And it was similar that most though the Colts would not lose at San Diego.
Well heck it was unimaginable to me for the Cardinals run, but still I took the points on them in the Super Bowl as well.
As you can tell I am itchin’ for some of that new action starting in September.

NBC fucking blows. They’re under the impression the only team that can generate ratings for hockey is the Penguins which is beyond retarded. McCreary’s group has been issuing so many penalties, I literally fell asleep midway through the first period. Let the guys play hockey for fuck’s sake.

While I would much rather have the Penguins on FSN Pittsburgh than NBC, two things.
1) The NHL chose to delay the Capitals series one day to put them on NBC Saturday, so it’s not like they’re only trying to promote one team.
2) Penguins hockey on FSN Pittsburgh is the highest rated of all the hockey on regional FSN networks, so it’s not like they don’t have a reason for putting their games on.
