Red Sox 5 – Yankees 4: Did any other games happen? This one had the two greatest sites for a Red Sox fan. Mariano Rivera looking like he threw up in his mouth and a Kevin Youkilis walk-off at Fenway with a jacked up Dustin Pedroia waiting for him at the plate with open arms. There needs to be a concerted effort from every yogi, masseuse, pilates instructor and physical therapist in the greater Boston area to find a way to loosen up Ortiz’ knees.

Royals 6 – Tigers 1: Zach Greinke had his first flawed outing of the season, allowing one run on three hits with 10 SO in a complete game. He retired the final fifteen in a row. Alberto Collaspo also got his first home run in MLB, after 441 AB. Longest such streak among active players.

Mets 4 – Nationals 3: Johan Santana allows one run in six, strikes out 10, raises ERA to 0.70. Despite significant investment, the Mets bullpen nearly conspires to blow the game for him. So it goes.

Cardinals 4 – Cubs 3: Wainwright had a great start made interesting, by two St. Louis errors. Albert Pujols small-balled a win.

Giants 5 – Diamondbacks 1: Lincecum had 12 strikeouts in eight innings. Giants starters have allowed three runs in their last 43 2/3 innings. Imagine how good they would be if they had brought in a couple bats instead of prematurely shooting their two-year $18 million load on Renteria.
