Well, Kobe Beat LeBron in Something …
1-liner, NBA May 1st. 2009, 11:00amKobe > LeBron: The NBA’s best selling jersey this season was … Kobe’s No. 24. LeBron was No. 2. CP3 came in third. Surprisingly, Nate Robinson came in eighth. Regarding Kobe vs. LeBron; if the markets were switched, so would the top two spots. (NBA.com)

LeBron has this weird thing where he doesnt change numbers.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:04 am
would love to see the actual sales.
was Kobe 24 in HS or something? I always thought he changed to 24 because it was one above Jordan.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:09 am
I was #24 to split the difference between Jordan and Price

question: who gets suspended for coming off the bench in the rondo/hinrich incident?
May 1st, 2009 at 11:13 am
i saw del negro, ty thomas (was he in the game?) and aaron gray.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:13 am
@msuspartan – No one since there wasn’t anything wrong with the incident.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:14 am
If Aaron Gray gets suspended the Bulls might as well not go to Boston.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:14 am
there was an incident?
May 1st, 2009 at 11:16 am
Nope, just Rajon Rondo giving it his all to help his team win.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:17 am
why wouldnt del negro get suspended? he left the bench. Amare got suspended last year vs. the spurs
and that obviously wasn’t my point duder.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:17 am
He’s changing it to 6.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:17 am
not even sure why the Celtics bothered showing up for this series? SportsNation said they didn’t have a chance without Leon Powe.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:18 am
ITs been 3 years since Kobe changed his number. During the 2007 season, I’d understand the “he changed his number” excuse…now, not so much?
I actually know more Lebron haters than Kobe haters. You wouldn’t know it from being on TBL, but there ARE other people that don’t like LeBronze as much as some of you guys do.
Kobe was 24 in his first year of highschool I believe…he changed it to 33 though.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:18 am
He just makes the teams change jerseys based on what kicks he’s wearing.

Kobe definitely has a built-in advantage being in L.A. but LBJ’s commercials are in high-rotation here in the Chi… Does Kobe even have any commercials outside of the NBA Cares junk!
May 1st, 2009 at 11:21 am
Coaches are obviously allowed to leave the bench. Think Van Gundy hanging onto Zo’s legs.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:24 am
I know msu. karma I love Kobe. clown what the hell are you talking about? Awesome if true.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:24 am
rapists aren’t the best guys to pitch a product.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:26 am
Considering Kobe cares more about trying to win without Shaq so he can have the spotlight and selling jerseys than actually putting rings on his fingers, this is no surprise.

Trojan?

For the Christmas game against the Wizards, the Cavs were supposed to wear a jersey with a snowflake patch on it. Icon was debuting his LeBron Hardwood classics that day, so he put the kibosh on the holiday jersey and both teams had to switch. It’s all about marketing, baby.

Iverson #5? damn
May 1st, 2009 at 11:31 am
Were those the awful blue/purple shoes? Not a fan of LeBrons shoes or his commercials.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:31 am
Switched teams/markets, and therefore uniforms.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:32 am
Add LeGrinch to his list of celebrated nicknames.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:32 am
gonna be great when Denver wins the title and the Kobe/LeBron discussions become a mute point.
/Emmitt Smith’d
/doesn’t really think Denver will win.

Switched teams/markets, and therefore uniforms
He went to Detroit right?

Ray Allens resurgence has me hoping that Carmelo can become the Cuse Carmelo for these playoffs. Would it not be amazing to watch him take over a series.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:36 am
well, this is where
shitAmazing Happens.May 1st, 2009 at 11:37 am
iverson has more fans than just in detroit.
/probably has no fans in detroit actually
May 1st, 2009 at 11:39 am
L.A. is going to have to earn it this year if in fact they play Houston and Denver in the playoffs. A steady-n-explosive perimeter game can counter Kobe! J.R. Smith is a F-ing Highlight Machine in OVERDRIVE!!!
May 1st, 2009 at 11:40 am
Shows how weak Lebron’s marketing power is. Like I always say, Lebron’s popularity is not because people actually really like him, but moreso because the NBA (and every other media outlet) shoves him down the public’s throat.
The fact that a “rapist” who has much less endorsement opportunities than LeBronze can beat him out in jersey sales and, dare I say, overall popularity (ask China) speaks for it self.
May 1st, 2009 at 11:43 am
Duder- if Melo was to take over, does that mean the Lakers shoot 12-30 from the FT line in each game?
May 1st, 2009 at 11:51 am
Come on sparty that Cuse team earned it.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:05 pm
Duder- I don’t take anything away from them. But Kansas helped them out.
May 1st, 2009 at 3:10 pm
He’s a basketball player, not an actress like LeBron.
May 1st, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Couldve sworn Kobe was just in a commercial prancing around in his underwear singing into a microphone. What a tool.
May 1st, 2009 at 3:16 pm
Actually, he was wearing basketball shorts.
May 1st, 2009 at 3:17 pm
@howardryan: So Kobe voluntarily decided to stop doing Sprite commercials, et. al.?
May 1st, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Ok but he was definitely prancing around. Great voice though.
