Mississippi State Lands Two Prized Big Men
1-liner, College Basketball, Recruiting May 7th. 2009, 1:20pmNew SEC Hoops Power?: In the span of a few days, Mississippi State (!?!) inked two of the best big men in the class of 2009: Troubled 6-foot-10 Renardo Sidney, who previously was ticketed for USC, and 7-foot-1 John Riek. The latter had signed a letter of intent with Cincy, but the school wasn’t sure whether or not he’s qualify, so they never sent the LOI to the NCAA. Here’s where it gets really interesting: If, for whatever reason, the SEC’s leading shot-blocker, Jarvis Varnado, elects to take his name out of the NBA draft and return to school … somebody will have to give up a scholarship, because the Clarion-Ledger claims Stansbury’s given them all out, with Riek snagging the last one.

Riek is so overrated it isn’t worth me ranting, the guy gets handled by guys half his size.
I love that they already forced one guy out for Sidney. I thought I read that they were still oversigned, maybe that was assuming Varnado comes back.
