I’m sure a lot of people out there will say it was just Kobe knowing he was on tape, and acting, but I thought his teammates seemed like they liked him a lot and he seemed like a really good guy, albeit misunderstood of course. I don’t know, I was already kind of a Kobe fan, but I think it made me like him more.
It seemed like complete B.S. Extremely boring. The whole thing consisted of Kobe talking about how fun the game is, how great Odom, Gasol, Fisher, etc. are, and how much respect he has for Duncan, Parker and Bowen. Didn’t buy any of it.
i actually recorded it but then i realized that spike fucking sucks and he is supposedly a knicks fan who is trying to do anything to remain relevant so i deleted it. seriously of all the direxctors, actors and producers in l.a. none of them could have made this “documentary”? they had to bring in spike lee because???? why? a 2 hour doc on marbury would have been more entertaining on so many different levels. we know that kobe’s teammates and opponents dont like him so why would we care to see him fake it like they do?
I could be wrong Chicago, but his body language and the expressions on his face looked completely different than most of the normal games I watch of his. He’s usually scowling and yelling at teammates/other team. This whole game he’s fake laughing with Kurt Thomas and Bruce Bowen. It was clear he was putting on a show, in my opinion…
Agreed McDawkins. What a load of crap. I didn’t realize it was a fiction piece. The only way to get a true reaction on these guys is somehow taping them without them knowing it. It was obvious that Kobe knew he was on tape and played to the camera. You think he was going to get T’d up that night? Of course not. That would hurt his image.
It was crap. I dvr’d it, and tried to watch it today. I dont like Kobe, but I figured I’d give it a chance. Seemed so fake, and all of his talk seemed scripted (not in game, but the dub over stuff). I had to turn it off after 20 minutes.
I think a real documentary on kobe would be really interesting, but Id be willing to say that he had a bit too much ‘creative control’ in how he was portrayed in this (again, I turned it off early, so I may have rushed to judgement)
Yea i dunno- I’m just not sure I buy this whole Kobe is a piece of shit scenario that people push. I see Bynum and him talking and laughing on the bench a few times, and same with him and Odom. Farmar seems to look up to him. He’s probably not that easy to get along with at first, just because he seems to be very intense and meticulous in his life and basketball especially. I guess it would be silly to say he wasn’t acting at least a little bit, since anyone in that situation would be, but I also think its stupid to say his teammates hate him or don’t care what he says.
I didn’t watch. But i watched something that was so bad as to be noteworthy. Do not, under any circumstances, ever watch a movie called “The Curse of the Komodo.”

That’s absolutely hilarious. Did you forget about Kobe’s little rant against Bynum when he DIDN’T KNOW he was being filmed? ESPN the Magazine did a feature on him a couple years back about how he treats everyone like shit when the cameras aren’t around. He’s an amazing basketball player but all the signs point to him being an asshole.

I liked the ESPN article about how Kobe wouldn’t take Spike’s calls and made drive up to Kobe’s crib, and even then wasn’t going to talk to him. Spike got pissed and told that Kobe could fuck himself and he’d do the documentary on Duncan instead. Kobe decided he better talk to Spike.
That was the most realistic documentary I’ve seen since something done by Michael Moore.

Except he didn’t rape anyone. But do see what you’re saying. I’m not knocking on Lebron’s character tho, just to be clear. I do not agree with what Andy said.
Farmar seems to look up to him. He’s probably not that easy to get along with at first, just because he seems to be very intense and meticulous in his life and basketball especially.
I think Kobe does get a bad rap sometimes, but I heard a radio interview with Farmar where he said no one on the team has ever been to Kobe’s house. I mean come on. His own teammate tells everyone how isolated he is and then we’re supposed to believe that he’s all buddy buddy with guys on the bench?
Also didn’t Kobe have final cut on this? I thought the story was that if he didn’t get it then Spike Lee was just going to do the documentary on Duncan because he already had the cameras in place. That just shows how f’d up this whole thing is.
It went so far that Lee had a last-minute plan to substitute Spurs star Tim Duncan for Kobe and make the whole documentary about Duncan,” said one source. But apparently they worked it out…. Sort of. The usually combative Lee had to essentially relent according to another insider.
“Spike Lee completely yielded. And at the start of the film, when Kobe arrives at the Staples Center and sees Spike with the camera, he gives him a big smile and thumbs up, showing he knows he won the battle.”
mcdawkins…lets not fool ourselves here. lebron took shit, lots of it. hummer, throwbacks, etc.
the only difference is, he didn’t have to go to college and have a school pay for his “education” while he was, by all intents, a mercenary for a 4-month run wiht a glorified aau team.
The only interesting thing that I took from this “documentary” was that Kobe really is coaching this team, and it seems to me that he’s coaching a bunch of guys that aren’t willing participants.
Does Phil Jackson do any in-game coaching outside of “rebound the ball” and “you guys need to be patient?”
As for the rest of you saying Kobe’s acting…well duh, yeah, he knew he had a mic on him. That doesn’t mean he’s the most worthless human being on the planet when he’s not mic’ed up. Seems that some of you are making that leap.
Everyone always lauds LeBron for doing and saying the right things..but is it really any different? He knows when he’s on camera and when there are beat writers around. It saw three years ago he was throwing his collective team under the bus, just like Kobe does…it’s what these superstars do. I’m not sure I really see a distinction.
And I’m not sure why everyone is taking that New York Post account of Kobe allegedly ducking out of the piece as gospel (which cited an unnamed source). But even if he did, is that necessarily news that a superstar decides on what terms he’s exposed? LeBron won’t do local TV, and his people decided where and when he’s going to be be filmed at all times.
That whole Kobe rape thing doesnt ring a bell? Who gives a shit if a kid took $ who wasnt going to college? Thats what you LeBron haters have to cling to? Sad.
Everyone always lauds LeBron for doing and saying the right things..but is it really any different?
Kobe feuded with Shaq. He feuded with Karl Malone. He wanted Bynum traded. Until LeBron has this kind of track record with teammates, then tell me it’s not different.
i wasnt saying lebron was a saint or liked by his teammates just because they act like they take pictures together before games. actually it is probably far from it. MJ wasnt the most popular guy on his team because when it was time play or even practice he didnt have a 1st gear it was always 5th gear.
thats why mj,kobe and lebron are the best at what they do. they dont know how to halfass it while all of their teammates are like “dude seriously its just practice.” they are like “i am gonna win at this no matter how pointless it is.”
he isnt a bad person because he isnt liked at work he is a bad person because he goes to great lengths to make it seem like he is. he is a phony.
Does Phil Jackson do any in-game coaching outside of “rebound the ball†and “you guys need to be patient?â€
There’s got to be some measures taken on this, but it seems like whenever miked up coaches are talking, it’s just stuipd rah-rah bullshit. I think they probably do draw up plays and what not, that stuff just can’t be “listened to” for mic’d up. I’m guessing though. Because if all Phil Jackson says to his players is the nonsense you hear during those mik’d up segments, then he’s the exact same coach as Doc Rivers. Although Doc cries harder for every call.
lebron has a track record like that…he wanted drew gooden traded.
Even if this is true, is that the same thing as fighting with a top-5 all time center while he’s winning you titles? Or an all-time great Hall of Famer? Or a young kid who’s supposed to be a huge future piece?
Kobe feuded with Shaq. He feuded with Karl Malone. He wanted Bynum traded. Until LeBron has this kind of track record with teammates, then tell me it’s not different.
LeBron pretty much held the team ransom…demanding upgrades under the threat of bolting (not saying I would have been different). Imagine if you’re Drew Gooden, and LeBron is saying that new guys need to be brought in immediately. Is that really that much different from Kobe demanding the same things?
And Duder, not exactly understanding how dismissed rape charges necessarily make you a bad teammate. But I’d love to be enlightened. Was Jordan a bad teammate because of all his infidelity?
In defense of Kobe on the Shaq thing, Shaq had derailed himself. He was out of shape, and didn’t care. They lost the 2004 finals because of Shaq getting beaten up and down the court all game. The feud was as much Shaq as Kobe, because EVERYBODY loved Kobe then. I mean everybody. He had it all, and he took over games at the end. He was stealing Shaq’s thunder (while shaq was stealing his per diem money, and spending it on food). Once he got traded, he got in shape, for his revenge. That story had two bad guys, not one.
Duder, I was responding to the point made that Kobe was trying to determine the level of his exposure..if you would have read what I wrote, I said “it’s no different from any other superstar.”
Are you trying to create controversy where there is none? Can you at least try to be balanced at some point in the Kobe/LeBron talk? We get it, Kobe very bad, LeBron very good. At least try to add some balance.
And I’m not sure why everyone is taking that New York Post account of Kobe allegedly ducking out of the piece as gospel (which cited an unnamed source)
The word out here is that Kobe told Spike he didn’t want to do it AFTER he had gained clearance for all the equipment, the locker rooms and NBA approval. Everything was set up and ready to go and Kobe parachuted in and said I want final say. Thats being a dick. He could have said that from the beginning. Every player would say that before the director has everything set up.
Thats my main issue. So Spike was stuck and had to do it on Kobe. There’s no way he could have switched. My buddy is a talent agent and can corroborate some of that Post story.
yea, i can’t really hate on kobe for getting on shaq’s ass at the end of their run. shaq didn’t conduct himself like a professional, which kobe took offense to. if shaq wanted to be treated like a man, he should’ve at least taken a little professional pride, regardless of his past success.
and karl malone was a cunt-fag, so kobe getting into a beef with him was fine with me too.
Malone was a bad teammate when he was “hunting for little Mexican girls”. Kobe was a bad teammate when he told the cops he should have money stashed away to pay of women like Shaq. The rape thing? As sick as it might have been, it has no standing on what kind of teammate you are…
Imagine if you’re Drew Gooden, and LeBron is saying that new guys need to be brought in immediately. Is that really that much different from Kobe demanding the same things?
Since Gooden doesn’t know what planet he is on most days, I would say that there is a difference.
Not sure how he held the Cavs ransom either. There wasn’t anyone, from media, to fans, that didn’t say that the Cavs needed a roster upgrade. He also never threw an individual under the bus. The comments were around needing a roster upgrade. I’d say that it was pretty successful.
Kobe runs off Shaq. It can be debated who carried who. However, there really can be no debate that the Lakers missed Shaq for several years.
This isn’t another Kobe/LBJ debate anyway. From the post, the Spike piece came off as a phony advertisement for Kobe. It could have been done much, much, much better.
LeBron and Kobe are both people who try very hard to put forth this persona of what they want the public to think of them. LeBron is just better at fooling people than Kobe is.
Was Jordan a bad teammate because of all his infidelity?
No, but his sucker punching teammates at practice didnt help. Honestly Kobe is an asshole, but I dont know if hes a good teammate. Most seem to admit to hating him as soon as they leave LA though. Dont blame him for demanding better teammates, that got him Gasol (That and the deadly combination of Stern/West). Shaq wanted out of there. Not Kobes fault, and the Lakers made the right choice.
LeBron and Kobe are both people who try very hard to put forth this persona of what they want the public to think of them. Kobe is just better at fooling Chinese people than LeBron is.
if you don’t think lebron’s holding the team ransom, you’re foolish. it’s all about him, and if it’s not his way, he’s going to bolt. from here on out, he can sign as short of contracts as he wants, knowing it’s going to force the team to bend to his every whim.
but kobe held the lakers hostage too when he was threatening to leave a few years ago. when he flirted with the clippers for a month, effectively telling the lakers they got shit to do, even tho kobe wasn’t leaving no matter what.
it’s what nba superstars do…this isn’t news. and it’s not a bad thing necessarily, so i can’t fault kobe or bron for this shit.
By the way, will anyone be surprised when the Lakers win this game down the stretch and Bill Simmons blames Rick Adelman in 3,000 words or for some irrelevant coaching maneuver?
Nah, Lebron and Kobe both carry themselves as fake assholes, LBJ is just a better basketball player at this point.
Agreed.

Lakers should win this game by 50 based on talent. Kobe, Gasol, and Odom are all better than anyone Houston has. Maybe Artest over Odom, but thats probably a stretch. Please stop talking about how great Aaron Brooks is. His inevitable 7-25 shooting performance will get underway in about 1/2 hour.
Lebron’s hostage holding is allowing a lot of players to do the same. There’s 12 teams hording cap room, not signing bad contracts, and guys aren’t signing extensions or opting in. Lebron’s actually gonna make a lot of guys really rich in the summer of 2010. My hope is that he stays in Cleveland.
it still wasnt as good as jt’s the week beofre. it just goes to show how unfunny snl is now because the only funny sketches were shit that was written for and had former castmembers in it. that goes for both shows
that brings up a pretty good DVR alert. Tonight is SNL short films from 9-11 on NBC (think I’m on a Boat, and Dick in a Box, etc). Good stuff to zip through during halftime of celtics, if you TIVO it.
dick in a box and im on a boat is hardly the reason why i would be watching that. farley on skates. synchronized swimming. belushi in the olympics eating donuts.
as ever, mrejr, i’m really not talking to you, I was just making a little announcement. Don’t you have an appointment to get your neice’s name tattooed on your ballsack today?
Oh my god i love the Bron haters on this fuckin board….everyone is still holding onto comparing Kobe to Lebron about how Kobe is the best player in the game and anyone with any fuckin clue knows that Lebron is the BEST player and everyone wants to hate on the kid. The guy has been nothing but a fuckin solid NBA role model and is marketed accordingly. im starting this again LeBron > Kobe…..and lebrons overall domination proves it…the kid took a couple jerseys as a gift in HIGH SCHOOOOOL…and about him in the H2 in high school. His mom bought him that vehicle and any dealer who had any sense of mind what so ever would credit that car to her because the kid was going #1 in the draft
The guy has been nothing but a fuckin solid NBA role model and was marketed accordingly by Aaron Goodwin, who LeBron threw under the bus so he could hire his homeboys.
The guy has been nothing but a fuckin solid NBA role model and was marketed accordingly by Aaron Goodwin, who LeBron threw under the bus so he could hire his homeboys.
I thought this could have been a bad decision. But, it has turned out to be a great move. He feels more comfortable with guys he’s trusted. They have, in turn, done a great job with LBJ’s marketing in the last couple of years.
I love all of the people who rip Kobe for being a dick to his teammates. Do you people remember Jordan? Jordan was a total dick to his teammates and refused to tolerate any level of mediocrity. Imagine Jordan dealing with Bynum, Odom, etc… Hell, Jordan even punched out Steve Kerr at practice. Players who are as intense at Kobe, MJ, etc… are rarely great people to work with.
The film had no insight whatsoever…and there’s only so much in depth analysis Kobe can do as a commentator in a blow out win. I don’t think the interactions with Kurt, Damon or Bruce were fake. I’ve seen wired clips of Kobe talking to Steve Smith, VC, etc. It’s an NBA game, how is he being fake if he talks to them?
Kobe strikes me as an intelligent ball player, but sometimes, he needs to chill out on the advice he gives others. In the case of Odom, I’m 100% sure it went right over his head.
If you want a hard hitting Kobe doc, Spike should have asked about everything…his childhood, his stories growing up, Colorado, Shaq, everything…I dont think Kobe will talk about any of those until he’s done playing, and its a shame, because he’s going to be hated either way, but this documentary was seriously a peice of crap.
This was not a documentary. It was Kobe talking about the game of basketball. The best player in the game, explaining the game and his thought process behind what he does.
TBL, as someone who I believe said they play basketball, I would give watching it a shot. Kobe is a very intelligent and cerebral player, and I think anyone who plays the game can learn more by watching it. His take on the triangle was very insightful. If I was coaching ball at any level, I would show this to my team. Spike really has a way of making the game seem poetic, and it really gives non-basketball fans insight into what a player is trying to accomplish on every play.

He was driving an H2 in high school. You Global Icon myopics are so funny sometimes (all the time).
May 17th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
Except he didn’t rape anyone. But do see what you’re saying. I’m not knocking on Lebron’s character tho, just to be clear. I do not agree with what Andy said.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:40 pm

May 17th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
mcdawkins…lets not fool ourselves here. lebron took shit, lots of it. hummer, throwbacks, etc.
the only difference is, he didn’t have to go to college and have a school pay for his “education” while he was, by all intents, a mercenary for a 4-month run wiht a glorified aau team.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
You can get a loan from a bank on your future earnings power, clown. It was probably his mom’s name on the loan, since he was under 18.
To be fair, Lebron did accept free jerseys from some sports shop, though. Missed 5 games senior year for it.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
May 17th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
kobe had final say on what got in and what got cut, right?
May 17th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
And I’m not sure why everyone is taking that New York Post account of Kobe allegedly ducking out of the piece as gospel (which cited an unnamed source). But even if he did, is that necessarily news that a superstar decides on what terms he’s exposed? LeBron won’t do local TV, and his people decided where and when he’s going to be be filmed at all times.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
That whole Kobe rape thing doesnt ring a bell?
Who gives a shit if a kid took $ who wasnt going to college? Thats what you LeBron haters have to cling to? Sad.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
Kobe feuded with Shaq. He feuded with Karl Malone. He wanted Bynum traded. Until LeBron has this kind of track record with teammates, then tell me it’s not different.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
i wasnt saying lebron was a saint or liked by his teammates just because they act like they take pictures together before games. actually it is probably far from it.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
lebron has a track record like that…he wanted drew gooden traded.
but can you blame him?
May 17th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
May 17th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
Even if this is true, is that the same thing as fighting with a top-5 all time center while he’s winning you titles? Or an all-time great Hall of Famer? Or a young kid who’s supposed to be a huge future piece?
May 17th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
LeBron pretty much held the team ransom…demanding upgrades under the threat of bolting (not saying I would have been different). Imagine if you’re Drew Gooden, and LeBron is saying that new guys need to be brought in immediately. Is that really that much different from Kobe demanding the same things?
And Duder, not exactly understanding how dismissed rape charges necessarily make you a bad teammate. But I’d love to be enlightened. Was Jordan a bad teammate because of all his infidelity?
May 17th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
it was a joke…drew gooden is batshit crazy and has a gump-ish basketball IQ. it’s no wonder teams want him gone even tho he’s talented.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
NOOOOOOOO!!!!! What a fucking asshole! We’re all crossing our fingers that he gives a 1 on 1 sit down with Ramona Robinson. Riveting stuff.
May 17th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
drew gooden = bison dele?
minus the horrible death of course
May 17th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
In defense of Kobe on the Shaq thing, Shaq had derailed himself. He was out of shape, and didn’t care. They lost the 2004 finals because of Shaq getting beaten up and down the court all game.
The feud was as much Shaq as Kobe, because EVERYBODY loved Kobe then. I mean everybody. He had it all, and he took over games at the end. He was stealing Shaq’s thunder (while shaq was stealing his per diem money, and spending it on food).
Once he got traded, he got in shape, for his revenge. That story had two bad guys, not one.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Duder, I was responding to the point made that Kobe was trying to determine the level of his exposure..if you would have read what I wrote, I said “it’s no different from any other superstar.”
Are you trying to create controversy where there is none? Can you at least try to be balanced at some point in the Kobe/LeBron talk? We get it, Kobe very bad, LeBron very good. At least try to add some balance.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
The word out here is that Kobe told Spike he didn’t want to do it AFTER he had gained clearance for all the equipment, the locker rooms and NBA approval. Everything was set up and ready to go and Kobe parachuted in and said I want final say. Thats being a dick. He could have said that from the beginning. Every player would say that before the director has everything set up.
Thats my main issue. So Spike was stuck and had to do it on Kobe. There’s no way he could have switched. My buddy is a talent agent and can corroborate some of that Post story.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
yea, i can’t really hate on kobe for getting on shaq’s ass at the end of their run. shaq didn’t conduct himself like a professional, which kobe took offense to. if shaq wanted to be treated like a man, he should’ve at least taken a little professional pride, regardless of his past success.
and karl malone was a cunt-fag, so kobe getting into a beef with him was fine with me too.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
Malone was a bad teammate when he was “hunting for little Mexican girls”. Kobe was a bad teammate when he told the cops he should have money stashed away to pay of women like Shaq. The rape thing? As sick as it might have been, it has no standing on what kind of teammate you are…
May 17th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
May 17th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
LeBron and Kobe are both people who try very hard to put forth this persona of what they want the public to think of them. LeBron is just better at fooling people than Kobe is.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
No, but his sucker punching teammates at practice didnt help. Honestly Kobe is an asshole, but I dont know if hes a good teammate. Most seem to admit to hating him as soon as they leave LA though. Dont blame him for demanding better teammates, that got him Gasol (That and the deadly combination of Stern/West). Shaq wanted out of there. Not Kobes fault, and the Lakers made the right choice.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
LeBron and Kobe are both people who try very hard to put forth this persona of what they want the public to think of them. Kobe is just better at fooling Chinese people than LeBron is.
/beijing’d
May 17th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
Nah, Lebron and Kobe both carry themselves as fake assholes, LBJ is just a better basketball player at this point.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
if you don’t think lebron’s holding the team ransom, you’re foolish. it’s all about him, and if it’s not his way, he’s going to bolt. from here on out, he can sign as short of contracts as he wants, knowing it’s going to force the team to bend to his every whim.
but kobe held the lakers hostage too when he was threatening to leave a few years ago. when he flirted with the clippers for a month, effectively telling the lakers they got shit to do, even tho kobe wasn’t leaving no matter what.
it’s what nba superstars do…this isn’t news. and it’s not a bad thing necessarily, so i can’t fault kobe or bron for this shit.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
By the way, will anyone be surprised when the Lakers win this game down the stretch and Bill Simmons blames Rick Adelman in 3,000 words or for some irrelevant coaching maneuver?
May 17th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Agreed.
leave MLJ and write for cursedcleveland
May 17th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Lakers should win this game by 50 based on talent. Kobe, Gasol, and Odom are all better than anyone Houston has. Maybe Artest over Odom, but thats probably a stretch. Please stop talking about how great Aaron Brooks is. His inevitable 7-25 shooting performance will get underway in about 1/2 hour.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
cursed…but that would mean i’d have to write. i dunno if im ready for that type of commitment.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Lebron’s hostage holding is allowing a lot of players to do the same. There’s 12 teams hording cap room, not signing bad contracts, and guys aren’t signing extensions or opting in. Lebron’s actually gonna make a lot of guys really rich in the summer of 2010.
My hope is that he stays in Cleveland.

Lakers 105 Rockets 88, double digit lead for 3/4 of game.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
lakers are going to dominate. it’s gonna get ugly real fast.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
it still wasnt as good as jt’s the week beofre. it just goes to show how unfunny snl is now because the only funny sketches were shit that was written for and had former castmembers in it. that goes for both shows
May 17th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
that brings up a pretty good DVR alert. Tonight is SNL short films from 9-11 on NBC (think I’m on a Boat, and Dick in a Box, etc). Good stuff to zip through during halftime of celtics, if you TIVO it.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
dick in a box and im on a boat is hardly the reason why i would be watching that. farley on skates. synchronized swimming. belushi in the olympics eating donuts.
May 17th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
as ever, mrejr, i’m really not talking to you, I was just making a little announcement.

His mom bought him that vehicle and any dealer who had any sense of mind what so ever would credit that car to her because the kid was going #1 in the draft

good business decision
May 17th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
I thought this could have been a bad decision. But, it has turned out to be a great move. He feels more comfortable with guys he’s trusted. They have, in turn, done a great job with LBJ’s marketing in the last couple of years.
May 17th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
If you could show me where they’ve done more than Goodwin’s $130 million worth of deals, then I’ll happily stand corrected.
May 17th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
I love all of the people who rip Kobe for being a dick to his teammates. Do you people remember Jordan? Jordan was a total dick to his teammates and refused to tolerate any level of mediocrity. Imagine Jordan dealing with Bynum, Odom, etc… Hell, Jordan even punched out Steve Kerr at practice. Players who are as intense at Kobe, MJ, etc… are rarely great people to work with.
May 17th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
He may be a Yankees fan, but he doesn’t play for them. Lebron isn’t all about money like they are, clown.
May 17th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
I’m sure he wants to become a Global Icon by way of Cub Cadet commercials.
May 17th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
This is coming from a huge Kobe fan:
That documentary was so fucking BORING.
Was it just me, or does Phil never coach? lol
May 17th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
This was not a documentary. It was Kobe talking about the game of basketball. The best player in the game, explaining the game and his thought process behind what he does.
TBL, as someone who I believe said they play basketball, I would give watching it a shot. Kobe is a very intelligent and cerebral player, and I think anyone who plays the game can learn more by watching it. His take on the triangle was very insightful. If I was coaching ball at any level, I would show this to my team. Spike really has a way of making the game seem poetic, and it really gives non-basketball fans insight into what a player is trying to accomplish on every play.
