Fran Tarkenton is Not a Favre Fan
1-liner, NFL, NFL retirees May 28th. 2009, 11:30amTarkenton on Favre: “I think it’s despicable. What he put the Packers through last year was not good. Here’s an organization that was loyal to him for 17, 18 years, provided stability of organization, provided players. It just wasn’t about Brett Favre. In this day and time, we have glorified the Brett Favre’s of the world so much, they think it’s about them. He goes to New York and bombs. He’s 39 years old. How would you like Ray Nitschke in his last year (playing for) the Vikings, or I retire, and go play for the Packers. I kind of hope it happens, so he can fail.” (Deadspin)

Nobody cares about Fran Tarkenton for 30 years. Then he says something about Brett Favre, and now the media’s willing to listen.
The world we live in.

I thought only bloggers could say bad things about Favre. Nice to see someone have the balls to do it in the media.

Thanks Fran. Now go back to bed.

Who’s next? Joe Kapp? Tommy Kramer? Camp out on their front lawns! Brett Favre must remain newsworthy!

I still don’t. But I care about the other douche in this post even less.

Wouldn’t he have to come back from the dead first?

Amen. Preach on, Mr. Watson.

If Fran hadn’t been in the HOF already that would have put him over the top.

Or Emmitt Smith playing for the Cardinals?

You’d be surprised, or maybe you wouldn’t, how easily Cowboys fans are willing to look past that simply because he came back and signed a one day contract to retire as a Cowboy. The only thing I hate about this part of Texas is the amount of idiotic Cowboys fans there are.

This just cancels out his Sunday morning infomercials

Way to go Fran!

I don’t agree with Tarkenton here either, but definitely I do respect him otherwise and his perspective to weigh in like any HOF quarterback except Joe Namath, who of course does not deserve to be there but always had gotten way too positive press until he went drunk on national TV. And of course he’s all the loud douchebag Jets fans can talk about in their lame-ass history otherwise. The Jets are sort of like the Boston College of the NFL, with Joe Namath as the next divine level of Doug Flutie.

Or Rickey Jackson playing for the 49ers.
/should be in the HOF

Fran actually did not fail in NY. He improved a horrible team. Was just too bad the Giants had no one else as good as he was.
