Yardwork: Gotta Get Back to Chicago
Baseball May 31st. 2009, 2:15pm
Cubs 7, Dodgers 0: Wrigley Field is second to none. That is all.
Phils 9, Nats 6: Ryan Howard destroyed this pitch.
Yanks 10, Indians 5: CC Sabathia won in his return to Cleveland, a fitting splash to top off the city’s endless cyanide spritzer.
Tigers 6, O’s 3: Highly touted prospect Matt Wieters is no longer a bust. He went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Detroit’s win makes three in a row for Verlander.
Rangers 14, A’s 1: The Rangers won by 13 runs and Andruw Jones was the only one who had nothing to do with it. He went 0-for-5 and struck out twice, leaving four men on base. Kinsler had four RBI.
Cards 6, Giants 2: Pujols went yard twice and Chris Carpenter improved to 3-0.
Rays 5, Twins 2: David Price had 11 K’s in his first career win as a starter. Longoria’s RBI total has reached 55.

Making my first trip to Wrigley on June 14th. Too bad it’s against the gay ass Twins.

Went to an entire Cubs/Cards series in ‘98 I believe (the year of McGwire/Sosa II), and it was the best sports experience I ever had. And I’ve been to Fenway, Yankee, and Camden, among others.

@Hef – I’ll be there too.
Also going tonight! I’m sadly 4-3 on the season. Last year I was an astounding 26-4…well, 26-5 including the playoffs.

Souvenir, I might try to catch another game when I’m in town. How easy is it to get tix the day of? Should I plan ahead?

Hernia, did you hear about the 25-inning game between Texas and Boston College last night?

Damn Souvenir, that’s a lot of Wrigley. Awesome.
Jay, that’s coming up next.

I lived in Boston for four years and saw a lot of Sawks games (including behind home plate for one at ‘86 Series), but Wrigley games are fantastic. Nothing like a sunny day in the bleachers drinking Dog Styles

@Hef – Craigslist man. Even around the park too. I bought 52 tickets this year and I’ve actually used a lot more than I planned on because I couldn’t sell them.
My roommate has tickets to the 13th game as well. He is going on a golf outing and will probably be selling them. Or, if you’re interested in catching an Indians game I have tickets to the 21st, which is a Sunday. Can’t use ‘em, actually got a rooftop for that day.

Does Brooks know a Google search the rest of us aren’t familiar or how does he keep finding these women? Those are choking her for Christ sake!

I’ve got the opportunity to go to Dodger Stadium this weekend but I think I’m gonna pass because it’ll be filled with Dodgers fans.

I lived in Missouri for 4 years. This might come as a surprise, but Kauffman was a decent place to watch a game. Cheap tickets, cheap food, usually great weather. You can always find a place to enjoy the game in peace.
I went to more games at Kauffman than I did at Busch, old and new.

Jay, I’ve heard that sentiment a lot. Kauffman’s got a good rep among my friends.

Kauffman was a great place to watch a game. I haven’t been there since the renovation…but it looks like an abomination on television. BTW, why do the Royals sit on the right side dugout? Weird.
