Most Coveted Jets Jersey This Season: Bart Scott
NFL June 10th. 2009, 5:30pm
We’ve been quite pessimistic about the Jets since last year’s late-season collapse, the loss of Favre, the departure of Coles, and the head coaching change. We’re still thinking 6-7 wins is realistic for next season, but wins hardly matter in year one under a new coach and QB when you have mouthy LB Bart Scott to yap it up. He’s been a quote machine since talking about the “hot sauce” he put on Reggie Bush’s ankle in 2006, and even though he hasn’t played a down with the Jets, Scott’s already jawing with the Dolphins. Love it.
“Who said that?” asked Scott, when told of Crowder’s remarks. “Who’s Crowder? See, I never even heard of the guy. Can I get a bio? You have to give me some personnel reports before you throw names out. I don’t even know the guy.”
Scott’s outburst came in response to Crowder taking a jab at brash new Jets coach Rex Ryan.
“Oh, he’s going crazy,” Dolphins LB Channing Crowder told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “He’s going absolutely nuts. I know it’s his first chance to be a head coach and I know he’s excited about life. But, like I said, I’ve never played a football game in June in my whole life. So congratulations to him. He’s the OTA (organized team activity), the OTA Super Bowl winner.”
We asked for a defensive-minded coach, and we got one. We’re already giving Sanchez a pass in year one – the lower expectations, the better. But the defense needs to be much improved.
Said Ryan: “I don’t know this Channing Crowder but he’s all tatted up. I guess I oughta be nervous about him. He’s right about one thing: I’m a first-year head coach. But I’ve been around the game all my life and I’m no different now than I’ve ever been. It’s just that more people are listening. The other thing is, I think he’s wrong because I think you do win in June. I think you win with your preparation. And if I was younger, I’d probably handle him myself. … It’s fun to ruffle some feathers. I have no problem doing that.”
Monday night, Oct. 12. Jets at Miami.

That Bart Scott talks a lot of shit. Sounds like a thug. Does he have any tattoos?
June 10th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
Good article and links outlining the general douchebaggery of one, Rick Reilly. . .
June 10th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
So YOU’RE telling me that since Brett Farve left that ANY NY Jets jersey is worth anything??? Can the Texans beat anybody by 25 point in the NFL including the Detroit Lions (Just Curious…)
June 10th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Did you not watch the 2nd half of last season?
June 10th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
we will seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
June 10th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
The Jets could have signed Bart Scott, Mark Sanchez, Ocho Cinco, Terrell Owens, LaDainian Tomlinson, Ray Lewis, Plaxico Burress, Anquan Boldin, and Tom Brady….
and, nope, we still wouldn’t give a shit about the Jets.

those clever fuckers couldnt come up with a better blog name than FireJayMariotti.com? seriously?
June 10th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Bart Scott is a lot more bark than bite. pretty good player, but you really don’t need to run your mouth so much. and if you want a bio, crowder is a guy that had more solo tackles last year than you had total tackles.
June 10th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
put those bastards in some hats though and you got headlines people want to read
June 10th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
@rondo I WAS just F-ing with @TexasFan… and he answered Appropriately !!!
June 10th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
tell that to Big Ben.
scott’s a beast. did crowder play MLB? scott didn’t, which is just one reason for the difference in tackles
June 10th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I love the “pretend not to know a guy” when someone brings his name up.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
you seriously think you’re going to see the bart scott of past years once he leaves the cozy gig he had surrounded by ray lewis, ngata, ed reed, suggs, and kelly gregg?…I mean, he’s a nice player I guess, but he’s not going to be the bart scott of the last 3 years
June 10th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Sanchez signed. 5/$28mil
June 10th, 2009 at 6:05 pm

June 10th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
hey, it’s my favorite blogger, the one and only mr.papa!…so what happened to your boy kobe last night? did he forget how to be the “best closer” in the game? or does last night not count?
June 10th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
Jordan did the same. it happens. Magic played their best game of the season, kobe struggled, candyman didnt show up and orlando won by 4. magic cant play any better, la can. this series is over
June 10th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
As much as SVG is getting some flak for being an NBA Finals announcer how come no one mentions Magic on the pre and post game shows?
His Laker colors show right through and he doesn’t even try to be unbiased.
He’s always lickin Kobes nuts along with Stu, Wilbon, and Barry.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
really???? maybe best game of the series but season? no way
June 10th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
3rd’d with the caveat that i think bart scott will still be pretty good.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
that analysis is so weak man…they played their best game and barely won, so that equates to the series being over?…each game is different buddy….the magic may not shoot 63 percent next game, but they might get 30 from dwight, or kobe may throw up on himself again
June 10th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
4th’d because other people are copying and pasting and i am a follower.
/and because i think he is right
June 10th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Channing Crowder was my high school teammate. I know he was crazy then, but I didn’t know he was THIS crazy.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Dwight is getting dominated but bailed out by the refs at home. in LA, he didnt get those petty calls and he was a non-factor. they will never shoot 63% again. rafer will never score more than 10 points again. kobe will never play that poorly again. lamar is iffy, but he should rebound well in game 4. orlando has no answer to pau gasol. LA takes Game 4 and the series is over.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
I dont think hes that good
June 10th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
magic can’t play better, but LA could still play worse.
why didn’t gasol get more touches seeing as he’s tearing it up down low and is like 17/19 from the line in this series?
and how is this series over after the lakers just lost?
/butt mega heison
June 10th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
according to channing crowder you dont win with preparation.
bag of hammers > channing crowder
June 10th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
I bet if they sold a Rex Ryan jersey it would sell higher than Scott and Sanchez combined.
I like this guy. Loved his dad as the architect of the 46 defense in Chicago. I think we’re in for some outstanding sound bites this year.
And he’s not taunting…he’s just having fun. Good to see that still exists in pro sports.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
And yet in game 2 the Magic were a Courtney Lee 3 foot shot away from winning. So you are saying what exactly???
June 10th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Lakers fan talking about a superstar getting iffy calls. Priceless.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
That is pretty amazing.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Mr. Pop – Dude c’mon. I respect the fandom and the fact that you write about it but don’t just put together arguments for the sake of getting a reaction.
You’re putting yourself on the Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson (I AM NOT CALLING THAT CLASSLESS SACK OF SHIT OCHO-CINCO…sorry, tangent inside a tangent), and Brett Favre.
I’m a Kobe fan. I think they’ll win too but the Magic did play a great game last night and we WERE one lay-up away from being down 2-1. It’s a series.
You’re making it difficult to be a Kobe fan on this site dude!
/what everyone else was thinking
June 10th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Orlando cant win three in a row at home, nor can they win in LA
Kobe is the most disrespected superstar in the league when it comes to foul calls.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
I Agree.
Texans 27
Jets 3

June 10th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
<emOrlando cant win three in a row at home, nor can they win in LA
just like miami couldn’t win 3 at home in 2006?
June 10th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
I’m sure you can back this up in a way that isn’t biased or completely anecdotal right? Right??
June 10th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
even if that were true (which it’s not…jump shooters don’t get foul calls like guys who go to the hole, and at this point, kobe’s more of a jump shooter), he’d still get more calls than anyone else on the floor at any point in this series…
June 10th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
Orlando cant win three in a row at home, nor can they win in LA
just like miami couldn’t win 3 at home in 2006?
// fixed
June 10th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
you can’t expect him to remember this…he was like 6 years old at the time of that series and his parents wouldn’t let him stay up late.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
arguing with paolo > arguing with mr. papageorgio
June 10th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Priceless. Even though they WERE a layup away from winning, and even though they have lost at home in the playoffs already, yeah, you’re right, the MAGIC can’t win in L.A. It’s actually impossible, never been done. . . blah blah blah.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Danny Crawford and Bennett Salvatore won those games, not Miami. Biggest disgrace in NBA history.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
It would’ve been nice if he tried to rebound last game. Odom too for that matter.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Almost. I would say game 6 of the Kings Lakers series.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
I give the edge to the Miami series but yeah rondo that was unreal.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
/fixed?
@rondo – gracias
June 10th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
when the west coast guys are calling you out on Kobe bias, you KNOW you don’t have an argument..
June 10th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
dho…we get it, your shoulders are bigger than your head. you don’t have to wear a beater to every press conference.
/except for that time he wore a suit that made him look like an ice cream man
June 10th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Paolo doesnt argue he teaches.
June 10th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
spence if i was built like dho you would have to kill me to stop me from wearing a beater every where
June 10th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Not even a west coast guy either (but am relocating there oddly enough)! But I know what you mean Mak. I’m a midwest fan but I’ve always been a Kobe fan. Probably will eventually come around to LBJ once he focuses entirely on basketball. I give him credit when I can.
/ducks and runs
//not say that Kobe is totally focused on basketball either! just in the playoffs this year!
June 10th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
(closes eyes, nods)
June 10th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
I know I defend Kobe alot, but what I do not do is say idiotic things.
This IS a series (contrary to Mr.”Pap”), and it will likely go 6 or 7 hard fought games.
Dude, seriously? If I was that jacked I would either be in wifebeaters or shirtless 90% of the time. And I wish I was kidding…I’m like somewhat fit right now and I dont mind walking around in wifebeaters whenever possible…Dwight’s a fucking monster (in a good way).
June 10th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Biggest disgrace in NBA History…
The Coin-Flip that determined the draft rights to Magic Johnson
The Chicago Bulls LOST that decision BUT MJ more than made up for it !!!
June 10th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
I actually LOLed at this.

As much as JVG is getting some flak for being an NBA Finals announcer how come no one mentions Magic on the pre and post game shows?

TBL loves Magic. He only hates on JVG
