With last night being such a ridiculously quiet evening in baseball, it’s given everyone a chance to pile onto those who have excelled at disappointment. Yahoo Sports is pondering if this is the “Final Acta” while the New York Post has plastered it’s back cover with an official S.O.S. to Mets GM Omar Minaya. In other news, Jason Isringhausen will shockingly miss the rest of the season as he has a torn a ligament in his elbow.

Brewers 14, Indians 12: Milwaukee put six runs on the board in an awfully ugly eighth inning for the vaunted Indians bullpen. After J.J. Hardy flew out to begin the inning, here’s how the carnage went down — walk, walk, walk, single, Prince Fielder grand slam, single, walk, single. Fielder finished with six RBI and Ryan Braun added five, needing only a double to complete the cycle. Pedro Cerrano struck out 11 times and Roger Dorn committed a whopping five errors, but the biggest crime of all was The Wild Thing not getting a save opportunity and a chance to hear it from the crowd on Ricky Vaughn Bobblehead night.

Angels 9, Giants 7: Barry Zito was awful, going just 3 2/3 innings and allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits. He’s now 3-7 and appears to find all of this rather amusing. John Lackey wasn’t much better, but he managed to limit the damage to three runs on the 10 hits he allowed. Six different players homered in this game, including Pablo Sandoval, who went yard twice.

Since we didn’t get to see him last night, let’s honor this man appropriately:

And then there was the downside of The Wild Thing. I love how realistic this catch by Randy Quaid looks here:
