NBA Draft: 10. Milwaukee Bucks
NBA Draft June 17th. 2009, 3:15pm
Sad recent draft history: What do these names have in common? Marcus Haslip (2002), Yi Jianlian (2007), Joe Alexander (2008).
Healthy issues: Redd missed 49 games last year due to injury; 29 games in 2006. Bogut missed 46 games last season.
There’s actual talent in Cream City: Redd’s a great shooter. Jefferson was an Olympian. Bogut was a No. 1 pick. Get this team a point guard! Haven’t had one since TJ Ford left.
Potential Free agents: Looks like the Bucks won’t pay to keep PG Ramon Sessions, who probably isn’t worth the money anyway. They paid to keep Mo Williams … and then shipped him Cleveland.
Needs: Definitely a PG. Ridnour is a nice reserve. Also, a PF. Charlie Villanueva has the skills of a SF, but plays PF. Ideally, he’d be your 6th man. That is, assuming he stays.
The Pick: Let’s say you rank the PGs thusly: Rubio, Curry, Jennings, Holiday, Flynn. It is likely that four of those names will be gone at this point. Is Flynn or Jennings a reach here? Would you dip into the next tier of Lawson, Teague and Maynor? Does PF Jordan Hill fall this far? Is PF Tyler Hansbrough a reach here?
We go with Flynn. Seems like the consummate point guard, just a bit undersized.
12. Charlotte Bobcats
13. Indiana Pacers
14. Phoenix Suns

Blair. Scott Skiles will love his toughness. He will fall this far because of the knee operations

Their interior is horrible. They need to draft size, but there’s not really any size available, past 1 & 2. Blair makes a lot more sense than a bunch of unproven commodities at PG. His skills translate (rebounding, big assed-ness) directly to pro ball.
I’d consider Lawson myself, before Holiday or Jennings. Both of those guys scare me.

Bogut was a No. 1 pick.
Being a No. 1 pick in the NBA doesn’t count for much.
Blair makes sense if you want to put Charlie V at SF and imagine that a PG or two can fall to the end of Round 1.

Here’s Jordan Farmar. I hope Kobe let him invest his money.

Like Tom Cruise in Vanilla sky…

Please draft someone who will give Bogut a high five.
June 17th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
I’ll predict that after this draft The Bucks will still be irrelevant
And why does M-Redd being a great shooter mean so little to team success
(Of Course I don’t view M-Redd with such high regard …)

A little early to call the Joe Alexander pick a flop.

Im still mindboggled over Jordan Hill being ranked so high.
June 17th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
@Tampa
You’re not the only one ‘mindboggled’ about that

Beware the overweight sub 6-9 power forward. They usually don’t pan out very well in the NBA, Barkley excepted.
June 17th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
Marty Conlon probably would say no.
