Sell Coke? The UFL Doesn’t Mind

Marquies Gunn was second team All-SEC in 2005. He went undrafted in the 2007 draft and kicked around on a couple practice squads over the last 2 years. In February he was arrested for selling cocaine to a narcotics officer on three occasions in his hometown of Alexander City, Alabama.
Earlier this week, Gunn was selected in the closed-door UFL draft by the San Francisco team. (They haven’t had the Team Name Draft yet.) I’m no lawyer, so I don’t know what kind of sentence three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance will net you. I’d just hate for the UFL’s San Francisco based team to have wasted a pick on a guy who might be in jail until after the league has folded.

Adam Archuleta was taken in the draft too. I hope they don’t have to compete with Daniel Snyder to sign him.

Gunn’s bond was reportedly set at $300,000 (he posted it one day after his arrest) and, from what I’ve read, he faces two-to-20 years for each count.
Innocent until proven guilty… but this looks bad for all involved.
