Dwight Howard’s Movie
1-liner, Movies, NBA June 21st. 2009, 12:45pmDwight Howard is going to be in a movie. The movie is called “Switch.” The premise is ‘a “white, unathletic, unpopular high-school freshman who swaps basketball skills with Howard.” Chris Tucker, Kanye West and Snoop Dogg are expected to make appearances in the flick, which starts shooting in August.’ How will they teach the awkward white kid all his move? That’s movie magic. (Page 6)

Hollywood doing its part here again to further racial stereotypes, whether true or not, in the name of “comedy.” It’s still okay of course to bash en masse the straight male of any sort of white skin as evidenced by many a commercial, because otherwise it would be “insensitive” or “racist.” Everyone else is allowed to be offended and be vocal about it, as we have all that “sensitivity training” that has gotten us nowhere.
You would think that this sort of race-based comedy would be outdated by now, but then again we are really fooling ourselves in terms of our real progress when any one group can still be the butt of so many jokes in the media. When that stops, you know we have real progress, and we are still a long way off it seems.
In supposedly more “racist” Europe, you see far less of this picking on any given group in popular media as in the US mind you. This is indeed more than anywhere in Europe a more common practice in the US in the popular media whatever the racial or ethnic bias otherwise off the air.
Saddest is all the dopey folks who will suck it up going into theatres to watch this shit. I hate movie theatres.

+1 Brock
Hopefully more folks reading get it like you. What’s right is right and what is wrong is wrong, comedy as an excuse or not.
The biggest hypocrites even more than all the racists are the supposedly sensitive folks, clustered mostly around San Fran, New York, Boston, LA, and DC, who think it is okay to offend certain groups more than others.
Many are ninnies too, and most of the guys they are married to are just plain pussies and wusses.

hopefully in the final championship game the white dude doesn’t mail it in. or does he get dho’s skills without the postal service uniform?

So he’s just going to be a white Dwight Howard without the athleticism? No wonder he’s unpopular.

This film was inspired by the Birdman I bet. Wow did he enhance the stereotypes as did that awful halftime show in lame-ass Denver for the All-Star game.

Snoop Dogg is to any film the protege` of Ted McGinley to any sitcom of yesteryear.
Why the hell is he still thrown around so much in the media? I guess all that money buys influence even when you still suck?
His music peaked at Death Row about 1994 geez. There is probably an over/under somewhere on how many months until he is arrested again.

As they should be. The ability to be shut down by smaller players and suck during crunchtime is not an ability I would want. Larry Bird on the other hand…
