I agree that mock drafts for NBA are stupid, because there is so much wheeling and dealing. T Mac is going to get traded Thursday, and that’s a bigger deal than where DeMar DeRosan gets picked, because of the value of that contract, and the potential for a buyout.
The draft is really secondary to all the wheeling and dealing, especially this stinkbomb.

Because the calls of the US being terrible were overstated. They played 1 horrible game against Brazil (look at how Brazil embarrassed Italy to see that it might have been about how good Brazil is and not about how bad the US is). The Italy game looked to be a very even match for 33 minutes until the shitty red card dropped the US down a man. That’s too much for virtually any team in the world against Italy.
That said, Bradley finally sat Beasley (forever, please?) and inserted some youth. Great game by the US side.
They will likely get blasted by Spain, but most teams do (15 wins in a row and 35 games since a loss).

This is just a practice tourney for South Africa, but that format has been used forever, the 4 team robin. It’s not news how it works, or that soccer uses it. It has been used, in this configuration, to world cups dating back to 86. They used it prior to that, but the scoring was different. If you think soccer doesn’t have enough scoring now, you should have tried watching world cup soccer in 1982.

I didn’t make a joke, I pointed out how arguments for tolerance of the removal of civil liberties during World War II sound an awful lot like arguments against the expansion of civil liberties in our own lives, and how, as you just pointed out, how when something awctually affects us (when the nazi’s came for the speaker of the poem, when you are a gay person) you tend to have more empathy than if you are an outsider. um, chump.
