A Dig at Herman Edwards?
1-liner, Fat, NFL June 22nd. 2009, 9:45amThe Biggest Loser: The Chiefs have dropped 340 pounds this offseason. “We were out of shape and not really strong,” said new Coach Todd Haley. Maybe this guy’s onto something – after a 1-5 start, the Chiefs lost six games that were close in the fourth quarter. Which begs the question – were the players just bad (31st ranked defense in the NFL), or just out of shape? The Chiefs first three draft picks were defensive players, but it probably won’t matter – not with five out of their first seven opponents having made the playoffs in 2008. Will Herman Edwards respond from his pulpit on ESPN? [LA Times]

Herm thought big was better, and massive was best. SMH. He didn’t value speed, which is a major no-no in the NFL … and why he’s at ESPN with Matt Millen (who also valued slow players, especially receivers. smh)
That was the game Herm played in the 70s. But it doesn’t work so well these days without some speed and the ability to score quickstrikefast. Ask Tennessee and/or Carolina. Good teams … didn’t have the ability to come back from early deficits. Little speed.
