Fan Falls From Upper Deck at Busch Stadium
Baseball June 27th. 2009, 3:50pm
Insane story from Busch Stadium last night:
A 34-year-old man fell headfirst from the upper deck at Busch Stadium on to the concourse below before the St. Louis Cardinals played the Minnesota Twins on Friday night. Chris Hoffman of O’Fallon, Ill., was taken to a hospital for observation. Joe Walsh, director of stadium operations, said Hoffman was being treated for an injury to his left shoulder, a gash to his face and assorted bumps and bruises.
A left shoulder injury and a gash to the face? Considering he toppled over a front-row railing of the upper deck headfirst into seats and/or concrete, he’s pretty fortunate.
Witnesses said the man appeared to have fainted in the 92-degree heat, but the Cardinals have stated the reasons for falling are still unclear.

Man, I’m only slightly older than him, and I wanna pass out walking to my car in the parking lot from the grocery store.
This is the worst summer I have experienced in a long, long time.

It was nice of the Cardinals to not move today’s game from noon to six despite the insane heat. It’s a good thing St. Louisans are usually too drunk to sustain serious injury.

I hope the Post-Dispatch runs a story about how LaRussa and Hancock somehow set a poor example for this guy.

@ThatsSoTaguchi- there was a blurb in Goold’s column yesterday, I believe, about the fact that they were “unable to work out” a deal to move today’s game to 6:00 or later. No mention as to why, though. I’m sure DeWallet had the final say in the matter.

It’s funny, I keep hearing how hot it is all over the rest of the country but in PHX it’s only topped 100 a few times now in June which never happens. As a comparison, there were only two days in June that didn’t hit 110 last year. I might need to go get a sweater or something.

Was ruled an E-5. Rolen would’ve made the catch!

Hef, I know it’s hot as shit in Arizona in Nevada. Over here it’s only getting to the upper 90s, but the humidity is over 70 percent every day, and the heat index is over 110.
Like I said, I know I’m getting older, but I went to the LSU baseball celebration Thursday. It was at 4 in the afternoon and only lasted for like an hour, but I was seriously getting the flutters when I walked like 4 minutes from the stadium to the car.
