Yanks 4, Mets 2: The Yanks swept the Subway Series against the injury-depleted Mets, who scored a total of three runs in the three game set and need to make a trade. Badly. Even Jerry Manuel said it’s a no-brainer. Mariano Rivera notched his 500th save and even got his first career RBI, working a bases loaded walk in the ninth off K-Rod of all people. Mike Francesa will be soaking in the glory all day this afternoon, and he was at Citi Field on Saturday night in front row seats, so I’m sure he’ll have something bad to say about their new park.

Padres 2, Rangers 0: Chad Gaudin and his Gossamer chin dominated. Through eight innings, the Rangers lineup managed just one hit while fanning nine times. Scott Hairston drove in both runs for San Diego.

Tigers 4, Astros 3: Brandon Inge smacked a two-out, two-run shot off José Valverde in the top of the ninth helping Detroit avoid the sweep. Russ Ortiz was impressive for Houston, going 7 1/3 innings and giving up two runs on six hits. Fernando Rodney is 17 for 17 in save opportunities, but for the life of him, he can’t put his hat on straight.

White Sox 6, Cubs 0: Chris Getz stole home! On the very next pitch, the always even-keeled Carlos Zambrano hit DeWayne Wise and was out of the game one batter later after walking Scott Podsednik. Not a good night for Big Z.

Phillies 5, Blue Jays 4: After losing four straight series, the Phillies took two of three in Toronto and Brad Lidge bounced back from an ugly appearance on Friday night, earning his first save since blowing two straight. He’s blown six on the season. Aaron Hill hit two home runs and has 19 on the season to go along with 56 RBI. We all saw that coming.

Braves 2, Red Sox 1: Rookie Tommy Hanson improved to 4-0, pitching rather flawlessly, going six innings and allowing just two hits. Hanson beat the Yankees last week, which is impressive since New York and Boston are the only two good teams in all of baseball. Chipper Jones and Garret Anderson both went deep for Atlanta.

Royals 3, Pirates 2: Greinke got his 10th win, but the Halladay cronies (he’s hurt but still has 10 wins) will dismiss it since it came against the Pirates. His ERA is 1.95.

Jim Leyritz’s signature bat spin at the plate isn’t so interesting after seeing this:
