How Many Baseball Players Have to Deal With This Garbage?
1-liner, Baseball June 30th. 2009, 4:45pmAdrian Gonzalez: “Almost from the moment Adrian was traded to the Padres, his family became a target of kidnappers in Tijuana … Early in 2006, an expletive-filled note containing a kidnapping threat against the González family was left on Alba’s office door in Tijuana (where she was running a rental hall for special events). Soon after, the entire family received threatening phone calls so often that everyone had to constantly change numbers. … Though the threats have mostly subsided, the April kidnapping of the father of former Padres infielder Oscar Robles in Tijuana has once again put the González family on alert.” [ESPN the Magazine]

I know San Diego is a great city weather-wise, but if I were making that kind of money I would have my family living in some compound near the Oregon border. Or in the middle of Wyoming somewhere.
I couldn’t believe when I first heard that Mexico was #2 (behind Pakistan) as the biggest risk of a complete political and social upheaval. But the more I read this stuff, the more I believe it.

Or at least move away from the border. Geez. It’s not like they don’t have the money to relocate out of TJ

TBL- I just saw your tweet on Stephenson, just wanted to add though I have heard that his eligibility may be in question because of that stupid movie he made. Dumb move by Cinncy if you ask me, that team isn’t good enough to contend, he won’t be there more then a year. Sounds like a move they would make if cinncy was still around.

maybe its a culture thing but i find it very selfish to leave family in a dangerous shithole. It makes no sense
