Jim Leyritz Continues His Quest to Be the Most Vile former Baseball Player, Ever
1-liner, Courts, Legal, Former Athletes July 2nd. 2009, 10:40amJim Leyritz: “Former Yankee slugger Jim Leyritz was arrested early this morning on charges of domestic battery against his ex-wife, police said. Karrie Leyritz says he dragged her out of bed, struck her twice and pushed her on the floor all because of a check she wrote without his permission, according to a police report.” If this guy weren’t a former ballplayer wouldn’t he be in solitary confinement? dear lord has his life gone to shit.

Dude really needs some help.
Wonder how active his former teammates are in his life, to what degree they’ve taken a shot at helping him straighten out, etc.

I don’t see what the big deal here is. She was his EX-WIFE.

Who’s the bigger turd: Jim Leyritz or Mel Hall?

They never should have let this asshole back out, after his recent “suicide” lie in the face of getting in trouble. There’s finally not going to be anybody left to defend him.
In that story, this uncaged animal says that his wife hits herself so he’ll get in trouble, and he’s got his kids believing it, too. I hope he gets stuck somewhere in jail with a giant angry Braves fan, and that that Braves fan makes sure Leyritz “hits himself” until he’s unconscious and/or broken. Repeatedly.
He’s already fucking killed somebody, and that person isn’t allegedly dead, they’re dead. He didn’t allegedly do anything. Jim Leyritz doesn’t deserve anybody’s benefit of the doubt.

pay attention LeBron, this is what happens to your life when you leave Cleveland for New York

why do people have sympathy for this guy, but think Stallworth got off light? Is it b/c he’s a former Yankee, white, or “has a problem with drinking”?
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:54 am
He also obviously knows how to tune up his wife without waking the kids, a good sign of a serial abuser.

I await Dan Lebatard’s reaction after painting this guy in a sympathetic light the way he did awhile ago. Somehow, I feel like I shouldn’t hold my breath.

When I read that “Mommy hit herself again” part of the story to my wife, she wasn’t mad. She just shook her head and said “Those kids will never know what loving somebody means.”
Maybe I’ll go with Leyritz too.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:04 am
hang him!
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:05 am
I already hated Leyritz for hitting a home run off Billy Wagner in the 98 NLDS when the Padres beat the Astros in the series 3-1. We won 102 games that season, we should’ve gone all the way but this bald, wife beating prick had to go and ruin it.
Upon reading this, I feel validated in that hate.

I feel the same way about the ‘86 Mets. Bunch of cokeheads, alcoholics, con artists, and all around shitheads and bad citizens kept the curse from being broken

he also ran somebody over with his car, hopped out and made sure to refuse the breathalyzer test. He’s spending all of his money to stay out of jail and on bail, and he has been fucking up– relying on people who either don’t believe drunk driving is that bad (or everybody does it) or love him because he’s a Yankee to give him sympathy in the press.
He’s trying to work on some angles where the person he killed gets vilified, so he can stay out of jail. He’s obviously worried about $$$, so his lawyers must be billing him hard. There’s reports that his victime was simultaneously drunk, texting and driving. Where do you think those reports came from? From Jim Leyritz’s wallet.
So, the only good news in this is that Jim Leyritz is running out of the money he needs to keep himself out of jail.
Fuck you, Jim Leyritz.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:19 am
Leyritz hadn’t abused anybody that bad since mark Wohlers in the ‘96 World Series
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:25 am
People wanted Steve Howe to succeed before he became a Yankee, if I remember correctly.
And I remember Tim Raines being somewhat sympathetic before he got sick. And he was a cokehead. Or maybe I’m saying that because it just wasn’t that he was a complete dick like Darryl Strawberry.

Yeah, but the 1979 Pirates didn’t have Lenny Dyksra.
/I fucking despised Lenny Dykstra
//and all of my suspicions have been confirmed
///seriously, I hated Dykstra more than Romo, T.O., Favre, and OchoCinco combined
