Brandon Marshall said he wanted out of Denver. Packed his bags. The Broncos vowed they wouldn’t trade a second superstar this summer. All was quiet in Mile High territory. And then yesterday, this report mysteriously surfaced: During an Oct. 2007 traffic stop for suspected DUI, Marshall vented about his dislike for the city.

After asking why he couldn’t see his lawyer, Marshall exploded: “That’s bullshit, that’s a lie, why aren’t you out look for [Darrent] Williams killer? I hate Denver. I hope I get traded. I hate this fucking city.”

Because there’s nothing like opening the month with a conspiracy theory – why would this report surface now? The TV station that broke the story said it went fishing based on a tip. Is it safe to assume that three groups of people knew of Marshall’s salty feelings toward Denver contained in this arrest report? The police, the team, and Marshall.

Two of those (the team and Marshall) have a vested interest in news like this emerging. First, the team: This news being brought to the forefront could cushion the negative brushback from the public should they trade him. Let’s put it out there that he hates the city! Then nobody will care if we ship him out of here! And Marshall – I know the best way out of here … let them know how I really feel, without having to call a press conference or talk to the media about it!

Selfishly, we just hope the Jets get involved.
