Cincinnati Takes a Chances on Lance Stephenson
1-liner, College Basketball, Recruiting July 1st. 2009, 12:00pmLance Stephenson: The allegedly great talent - he’s been hailed as one of the best prep players in NYC history - that nobody wanted finally has a home. He’s going to Cincinnati, which actually could be decent next year. The Bearcats return their top three players, and in what will be a down year for the Big East - Syracuse, Pitt, and Marquette will all take a significant step back - could be a 20-25-win team. Stephenson figures to be a 1-and-done player. A good high-risk, high-reward grab for the Bearcats, who have been mostly irrelevant since Bob Huggins left. [SNY]

The one and done rule at its finest. Now Cincy gets the NCAA investigators all over their ass for one season of Born Ready.

Nothing really. Just thought you’d be a little more freaked out that the Rockets are making a real effort in luring him away.

I can’t believe you think this is a good risk high reward move, no chance they win the big east, I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets suspended by the coach, who is a known disciplinarian, for at least one game. Plus he will probably hit their APR.
This coach appears to have job security so I don’t get the move at all, when FIU and Thomas think there is too much potential risk for a kid that is interesting. Also, St. Johns that needs the kid way more then Cinncy and they backed off.
There is also the risk this guy isn’t considered an amateur when all is said and done and we all have seen with D rose that the NCAA has no problem looking at that after the fact, I really hope this coach ends up with a nice zero win season on his record.

TBL -
I should also add I have been following this guy for years because Sampson was all over him and I have no doubt if he wasn’t fired his dirty ass would have brought him to IU.
