NBA Stars Agree: LeBron’s Being a Loser About the Dunk
1-liner, NBA July 15th. 2009, 1:15pmLeBron and the Dunk Nobody Will Ever See: “I dunked on him two or three days ago and he did the same thing to me,” [Chris] Paul said. “He took that footage too. It’s ludicrous, man.” Alonzo Mourning and Carmelo Anthony also weighed in on the fading controversy. “Everybody gets dunked on,” said Anthony … “I got dunked on before. I’m sure D-Wade got dunked on. It happens.” [Palm Beach Post]

July 15th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
He’s dunked on D-How.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Why is this such a big deal to LeBron? Even Jordan got dunked on. He’s slowly turning getting into A-Rod territory when it comes to P.R.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
But they played on the Olympic team together! He has to be joking.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Not fading to TBL, he’s on this like Woodward on Watergate. Or TBL on McNair’s real killer.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
Or TBL on which celebrity wore it better

Here is another take on LBJ and tape-gate.
/self promotion’d
July 15th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
i cant wait to see him in a knicks uniform and (hopefully) everyone shits on him for being so damn selfish and greedy. if he doesnt leave, he should be vilified for never putting the “lebron to new york” shit to rest.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
Can we get a ruling on when it counts as dunking “on” somebody? I propound that it is only when the defender is between the dunker and the hoop, not trailing the play as in that video (or C-Lee’s dunk “on” Lebron in the playoffs).
July 15th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
the closest im getting to Woodward on Watergate on either of those 2 stories is the book ‘all the king’s men’ which is sitting on a shelf behind me
July 15th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
fuck you.
for both points.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
im sorry spencer that you have to go through this shit.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
I propound that it is only when the defender is between the dunker and the hoop
agreed
July 15th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
good call bob. quick dunking is a common technique used by smaller, less athletic players. however, when you quick dunk you lose the right to say you dunked over someone.
July 15th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
What does Willie Stark have to do with Woodward and Watergate?
July 15th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Former ND basketball team captain. Nice guy. The night Chris Thomas broke his jaw, I WAS THERE.
July 15th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
Either he meant “All The President’s Men” or he was referring to how both Woodward and Bernstein’s book and the one about Willie Stark reference the same “Humpty Dumpty” phrase.

This just might be Lebron’s fatal flaw to keep him from a championship on whatever team for which he plays. In fact, it smacks of great immaturity on his part. Oh I can hear the fury from that vicious pack of Cleveland and Ohio homers chanting “The Chosen One” already.
Look at just about any REPEAT champion star player with a trophy of years present and past in the NBA, and they took and overcame many a humiliation on the way to Hall of Fame and championship glories. The best of champions know how to overcome such stings of losses to accelerate their legacies, and I am not sure Lebron is close to that point yet.
The ultimate game at the very highest levels is between the ears in any sport, and when that is won it manifests itself on the court into championships.
So let’s see if Lebron, having all the physical tools and talent of a champion and HOF’er, can make the MENTAL leap required of champions.

very well said, paolo. i actually agree 100%.
July 15th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
nice sleuthing Sanders, figured nobody else would get it. man, my sarcasm font must not be showing up
if i decide to go W&B, you’ll know
July 15th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Yeah, it looks bad when other players are taking shots at you (even if they are in jest or half-jest, which is certainly possible).
@GreatShatnersGhost:
Well said. I have no way of knowing if this is the case, but it seems like LeBron’s pulled into a little insulated bubble of yes-men, hangers-on, and Nike execs.
July 15th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
what’s he going to do when he goes to the knicks and gets dunked on in the countries biggest media market?
July 15th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
What you mean LeBron might be a human being who behaves at times like someone who has been rich, famous, pampered and surrounded by Yes-men since he was 18?
July 15th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Please.
He wants the big endorsements and the media attention and the superstardom…this is the price.
July 15th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
I think you mean 14.
July 15th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
I don’t think mine has been working either.
July 15th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
It’s either a big deal (because LeBron got dunked on viciously) or it’s a big deal (because LeBron had his lackeys get involved).
Either way, he comes off looking like someone who can’t take it.
The ironic thing is that Jordan was the same way, but he always knew how to play the (very friendly) media his way. He’d have gotten dunked on, got mad, gone at this kid and dunked on him and then the video would have been “Dunk Contest” and not “Jordan dunked on.”
That’s what LBJ should have done.

Chris Thomas was sick on the Shock.
