Peavy Traded to the White Sox, Again
Baseball July 31st. 2009, 4:41pm
Jake Peavy was traded to the Chicago White Sox for the second time this season. This time, he accepted it. He’s currently on the DL. He may not pitch again this season.
Padres get Aaron Poreda, Clayton Richard, Dexter Carter, and Adam Russell. Padres seemed desperate for the salary dump.

Are any of these prospects any good? Wait we won’t know until they make the majors anyway. But are they good in the minors?
July 31st, 2009 at 4:49 pm
Richard is already pitching in the majors, has been so-so, Poreda is one their top prospects, he’s been up in relief. This isn’t a bad haul for Peavy’s contract, especially with him possibly out for the season.

Poreda is a stud, but really young. Clayton Richard had a pretty bad start to the season once he got a chance, but lately he’s been lights out.
I know nothing about Carter or Russell.

FUCK.
I hope he’s incapable of pitching this season and doesn’t. Or they trot him out there and he blows.

ty duffy’s heroes take steroids.

NL to AL plus petco to the cell. Plus if he does come back he’ll be rushing back from an injury and it won’t be til early September. I think you have nothing to worry about this year NDub.

Dumb.
I guess Kenny couldn’t talk Dave Dravecky out of retirement

Baseball America has Poreda second and Richard third on their prospect rankings for the sox. Other guys not in the top ten.

Wait Peavy’s contract runs through 2013? oof. that is going to be a bitch to move later on.
22 million dollar player option in 2013!
That should be fun.

So why couldn’t the White Sox wait till after the season to get Peavy? If he’s not going to be able to pitch for the remainder, why rush to get him now?

Thanks for thinking rationally and explaining this to me. I’m not as pissed as I was 20 minutes ago. Tigers can win this division if Washburn keeps it up. Hopefully they’ve got a plan for a bat that hasn’t been announced or a move won’t be made for 3-4 weeks.
July 31st, 2009 at 5:01 pm
LOVE the Washburn move for you guys, that guy has been a number one starter for two months. Like you said, don’t know if he can keep it up, but it’s a worthwhile gamble.

My buddy just sent me a text that said Peavy’s agent said the pitcher will be ready by mid-August. Apparently, it’s the talk on Chicago sports radio. Go figure with those fucking dbags.
July 31st, 2009 at 5:06 pm
Perhaps you should be slightly worried.
July 31st, 2009 at 5:07 pm
@Fredo – Agreed. Even if he does come back this year, what’s he gonna pitch like?
July 31st, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Eh. Chicago sports radio is full of crazy shit. It’s often insufferable to listen to them talk baseball. They’re probably sensationalizing it.
July 31st, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Peavy is weak.
Secondly, what is up with Tony Reali’s beard? Looks like jackass.
July 31st, 2009 at 5:12 pm
ndub you listening to wscr? the only one on there worth a damn is lawrence holmes and mike murphy
July 31st, 2009 at 5:34 pm
No. I’m inside at the moment. I can sometimes get 670 AM and 1000 AM, depends on time of the day and weather. Most of what I heard is dreck. I got a buddy who’s a Cubs fan and isn’t a fan of much of the sports talk in the city.

Hahahahaha. Buehrle/Peavy/Danks/Floyd…rotation is set for the next 3 years. Thome’s 13 million dollar contract comes off the books this offseason….Kenny Williams strikes again! Clayton Richard is a #4 at best…Poreda has one pitch and can’t locate…Carter is interesting, but in A ball. Love this trade for the Sox.

Waddle and Silvy are great on WMVP, the Afternoon Saloon used to be great, but not it’s just okay. WSCR, mrejr is exactly right. Murph is pretty good and so is Lawrence.
Boers and Bernstein sucks worse than the Nationals.
