Scoop Jackson, Coming Soon To a Television Near You! (Not a Joke!)
Uncategorized January 20th. 2007, 4:20pm
Reality TV got the name of the shark it jumped this week, and thy shark’s name is Scoop Jackson.
NBA LIVE: BRING IT HOME, hosted by ESPN.com Page 2 columnist Scoop Jackson, is a reality-competition series that brings the EA Sports videogame NBA LIVE 07 to television. Over the course of six episodes, eight of the world’s best NBA LIVE gamers will advance through the tournament as they try to win home court advantage by winning NBA LIVE 07 games and coaching NBA players to win online games against other NBA players. Players who win home court advantage will play on their own turf flanked by their family and friends. At the finale held on the home court of the National Champion Miami Heat the winner will take home $100,000.
Our TiVo is set for Feb. 11. Is yours? No? Get on this! And somebody go ahead and take the initiative and plaster some of the show’s finer moments on YouTube. Thanks in advance.

So we have a b-ball version of Madden Nation, which is amusing in a “god, I’m glad I’m not this devoted a video game” way.
I think Scoop will get in the way of this being an enjoyable program, which I’m sure is not what its producers expect.

Jackson wrote a hysterically bad column on Gilbert Arenas on Page 2. The highlight: “I had two questions [for Arenas]. Only two. “How does it feel to be you right now?” and “When did you know?”
And he’s getting his own TV show????

Oh dear. Maybe ESPN will see the light and hire Phillip “Hot Sauce” Champion of And1 fame after a few lame episodes.
Maybe not. It is ESPN… They got a thing about retaining and cultivating the overrated and underachieving.
