Joe Posnanski Has Left the Kansas City Star for Sports Illustrated*
Media Gossip/Musings August 4th. 2009, 10:07pm
A year ago this month, Kansas City Star columnist Joe Posnanski was scooped up by Sports Illustrated to write a column for SI.com, which also re-printed his wildly popular blog. In addition to the column, he ended up writing a much talked-about cover story for the mag on Zack Grienke. And now, multiple sources have confirmed to us that Posnanski has left the KC Star for a full-time gig at Sports Illustrated. An email to Posnanski has not yet been returned. [Minor Update: Posnanski tweeted this early Tuesday morning; his last column in the star ran on July 19.] AM Update: His goodbye column, blog post, and tweet.

The 100 Best MLB Players column, which I think he wrote, was absolutely retarded.

He’s been hinting about this for a while.
And good for him.

But… but… how will I know why exactly the Royals suck.

I have been wondering how the KC Star, which has been laying off people for two years, could keep both JoePo and Whitlock. I blame this on the Royals sucking every year. He is a baseball guy living in a minor league town. I don’t understand the move to SI for his only gig. I can read every article/column in that mag while my oil is getting changed. Maybe SI is thinking about putting a serious effort into their online offering.

He said he’ll still write for The Star.

And he’s staying in KC, which will ensure an SI cover of “Matt Cassel, better than Joe Namath?”
