Ian Poulter’s Website Debuts: It is Quite Spectacular For a Guy Who’s Never Won a Major
ESPN, Golf, Media Gossip/Musings, Music, Video August 24th. 2009, 6:07pm
Ian Poulter, despite having never won a golf major – he’s got two Top 10 finishes – is insanely popular among fans. He’s an unrelenting twitterer, and has a massive following. His ego knows no bounds. And today, he revealed a flashy website that’s quite spectacular. You can scroll through his golf bag – totally want that utility hybrid – get golf tips from him, see his sad and impressive history of cars (sick Ferrari), and learn everything you could possibly imagine about his favorite team Arsenal. If there’s an athlete on the planet with a more impressive website, we have not seen it.
Aren’t you proud of us? The entire day went by and we didn’t feel as if mentioning Pete Rose or Mike Vick’s fruity drink were remotely necessary. Sadly, with Howard Stern out this week, we had our eyes on Mike & Mike more often than usual, and they must have spent 2.5 hours on Pete Rose. A non-story that’s 20 years old.
Stories that matter: Dan LeBatard held a lengthy chat today in which he talked about the time he got arrested in Miami. He also said that Rick Reilly “actually has a lot of talent…tons….he just doesn’t use it much anymore….he cashed in….can’t blame him…..writing well takes hard work and espn is paying him lots and not demanding that he work hard.” Between the heat he’ll get from ESPN for that, and the static he’s going to get for this column on Roger Goodell, the world may never heard from Dan LeBatard ever again.
Go Jets!

I was going to leave a smarmy comment, but that “Go Jets!” sold me.
August 24th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
I’ve been commenting from my phone today, so I didn’t notice: Did the fonts change size? Is it my computer?
August 24th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Also, TBL, no Opie & Anthony love on here?
August 24th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
fonts changed on me too. uber tiny right now.
August 24th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
what the eff? tiny font!
August 24th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
this is one weeny little comments section. I think TBL is trying to diminish us. I’ve still got BILLY MAYS POWER though, so I can’t be stopped.
YOUR TEAM SUCKS, AND YOU ARE AN ASSCLOWN.
August 24th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
+1 Dirt.
TBL wants us to know who’s running the show.
August 24th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
size cant hide the magical glow that your avatar gives off dirt
August 24th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Well TBL, my Ravens will beat your Jets like a rented mule tonight. Enjoy it. I’d offer to bet on it, but it’s preseason.
August 24th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
@Duder – You want the rest of us to leave for yours and Dirts sexting?

Speaking of which, when is the redesign happening?
August 24th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
please don’t tell me we all have to bust out the specs when we visit TBl from now on? I already get beat up enough.
August 24th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
The comments section is brought to you by Rick Moranis tonight.

I still think it’s cool that Stewart Cink tweeted himself drinking Guinness from the Jug.
Too bad the MSM hates him because he stole their Tom Watson story.

August 24th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
I would drink whiskey Sours, but I nearly got killed for that two days ago on here
August 24th, 2009 at 7:41 pm

/or everyone else will tell you I said it anyway
August 24th, 2009 at 7:42 pm
whiskey sour isn’t a bad drink. to each his own, obvs … im starting off by polishing off a bottle of wine (red) from the wknd.
August 24th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
what kind of wine?
August 24th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
i just bought a bottle of dan aykroyd’s crystal head vodka. see him talk about it here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7dtgw_dan-aykroyds-crystal-head-vodka_webcam
warning: he appears to be completely insane, but it’s some good marketing since it got me to buy a bottle.
but tonight i’m drinking wine as well. i’m playing 18 holes tomorrow morning to say goodbye to summer before school starts wednesday, and wine is the only way i’ll go to bed early enough to get a good night’s sleep.
August 24th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
bottle’s already in the recycling bin in the garage (but i think it’s a malbec) … i usually only buy bottles under $15, so nothing high-end
August 24th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
This is the first fall that I don’t have school since I graduated. It feels weird.
August 24th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
There’s a Knob Creek joke there somewhere, but I don’t want to work that hard.
And great American whiskey begins and ends with Templeton Rye.
August 24th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
ghosts,aliens….and vodka. the holy trinity
August 24th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
gfunk – Crystal Head vodka?! I just can’t drop $50 for a bottle of vodka.
August 24th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
did Rivers sign for less than Eli?
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/chargers/2009/aug/24/rivers-signs-new-deal/?chargers
August 24th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
that’s what i mean by great marketing. ordinarily i wouldnt either, especially since i dont really like vodka. but i just got my student loan refund so i’ve been throwing money away the past few days. plus, i mean, it’s filtered through fucking diamonds.
August 24th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
In the quiet word of the Virgin Mary, “Come Again?”
August 24th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Does it taste any better than a $9 bottle of Seagrams vodka? Hah
August 24th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
All that money and both Rivers and Eli still go to Supercuts. Shameful, really.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
So… not to piss in TBL’s cherios, but does everyone else think that Sanchez will be made to look pedestrian against the 1st team Ravens defense?
Lynchburg Lemonades for this guy tonight.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
i highly recommend watching that aykroyd link i posted. i suspect he’s just trying to sell it, but still. i’m pretty much convinced that when i go to bed tonight this crystal head of vodka will start communicating with spirits long since dead.
and finally: Triple herkimer diamond distilled Newfoundland deep aquifer pure spirit vodka. how can you argue with that.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
I like Jon Gruden on MNF so far, but that 7th grade hair cut has got to go.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:06 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
im eager to see Shon greene … mike francesa has really been talking him up
August 24th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
oh geez
that didn’t look good at all, sanchez
pick 6 by the NT????
August 24th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Starting off well
August 24th, 2009 at 8:09 pm
in defense of sanchez … lewis came in untouched.
still sanchez looked afraid back there. ugh
August 24th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
jets special teams – awesome!
let’s have a drive here, mark … 3 and out and they’ll be talking …
August 24th, 2009 at 8:11 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
gfunk – Not quite diamonds
August 24th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
He was more afraid if the sack than an int. Nearly lost another one.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Yeah, the Ravens are scaring the shit out of Sanchez right now.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
You’ll like him. Durable, north south runner. He was behind some pretty good o-lines at Iowa though. He does have a rebuilt knee, too. He and Thomas Jones will be a good tandem. Not to discount Leon Washington, either.
Whoa, almost another pick there for Baywatch.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
He’s staring down receivers.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
i called that draw. safe and smart, im ok with it. but sanchez better play this whole first half.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
Nice play call, schottenheimer. Aka Paul hackett
August 24th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Did Sanchez just try to throw a block there on 3rd and 19? It’s preseason, son. No need to throw the body around and risk injury.
He looked scared in the pocket and then tried to throw a block. Talk about two completely different plays.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
agreed that sanchez looks terrified. you could see it when the cameras were on him before the game. no smile. looked panicked.
if rex ryan is smart, he’ll let sanchez stay in to face the 2nd team defense, too.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:16 pm

That ad campaign is just embarrassing.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
SC – i think you’re right, he thought about trying a block. dangerous.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:19 pm
I met Dan Akroyd at a bar when he was promoting crystal head vodka in Scottsdale. Nice guy
August 24th, 2009 at 8:19 pm
Wait… Is Ray Rice the first team RB for the Ravens? What happened to McKneeInjury?
August 24th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Gaaah almost got him
August 24th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
that bart scott replay against the rams was awesome!
he drilled that guard, knocked him backward. awesome.

Joe Flacco is from the next town over from me, saw him at a bar this summer and one of my female friends used her charms to have me meet him, really cool guy. He joked that his friends wouldn’t let him leave cuz they’re were all using that card to try to get laid. But a real cool dude.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
The lone Thomas replay of the year. Calling it haha
August 24th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
I’m excited to see this kid in the NFL. He’s got a body like Ogden but no where near the footwork. He was rather underwhelming at Ole Miss but if you’ve seen his high school tapes… Holy. Shit.
He used to take on three or four kids on one play. A good OL coach could turn that kid into a franchise tackle.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Rice has had an awesome preseason. But McGahee apparently is playing like he’s on a mission, since he’s realized that Rice is the starter. The two of them with McClain is a solid backfield.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
Goddammit, this ASPCA commercial is the most depressing commercial of all-time.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
To go from the Rams to the Ravens just isn’t fair
August 24th, 2009 at 8:26 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Sanchez trying to block. Did a pretty good job
August 24th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
nice block by sanchez. i’ll take that. fans seemed to like it.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:28 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
that bitch better listen to the voice of brock samson…he knows computers and shit
August 24th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
@BillyB – The only place I’ve ever been to in Baltimore is Camden. Is this stadium nice where the Ravens play? What part of town is it in?
August 24th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
Flacco only has eyes for Derrick Mason. Lucky for #5 in purple that he decided not to retire…
August 24th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
Its very nice, its right down the street from Camden.
I know your coment was to someone else, but I had to interject.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:32 pm

My three old bawls every time he sees it. Probably, because my wife bawls every time it is on.

Whoever that corner is… he got TOASTED. I’m sure Rex Ryan will have some choice words for him after the series.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
M&T Bank Stadium is right next door to Camden Yards.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:34 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
there’s lito … nice D, but i thought washington had it. is washington the guy who was a stud at UTenn and never really panned out?

August 24th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
Apparently, from what I’ve read, Washington has had a really good camp, he and Flacco have been working together a lot and look great. But then again, it’s training camp.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
sanchez just channeled archie manning
August 24th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
sanchez has happy feet. uh oh.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
Washington is a beast.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Washington is awesome.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
he was a founding father
August 24th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
sanchez has happy feet. uh oh.
Sanchez has never played against a pass rush. That was THE main complaint I heard from scouts about him trying to evaluate him. They really didn’t know how he’d be under a big pass rush.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:44 pm

for that quip.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:44 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Thanks for twisting the knife Chucky. Bears fans appreciate that stat on Thomas Jones.
That second round pick turned into Dan Bazuin (WHO?)
August 24th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
oh, and just a reminder … sanchez is facing a top 5 defense in the NFL. that being said … yes, he still doesn’t look settled and confident after 4 series
August 24th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
tonight was my first time betting preseason football. im quickly entering degenerate gambler status.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
Didn’t TBL say Keller was supposed to like rule the world? Or destroy somebody in a post a week or two ago? Or was it somebody else?
August 24th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Washington looks big, damn.
Ray Rice passed McGahee????? didn’t even know that.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Keller will be a beast. Great hands and speed. I wouldn’t put to much stock into him with a rookie QB versus a top 5 D.
Also, I’m really liking this MNF booth. That means ESPN is about to shuffle things and find a way to insert Joe Morgan.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
no. that was me. he broke a tackle! and yes, got popped by Reed.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:48 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Lowery is a disaster.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
is revis playing? he hasn’t been in on a play yet. guess they’re avoiding him.
flacco looks damn good.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
Rhodes as Ed Reed? You slay me, Rex Ryan.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
I havet seen him, all I see is Lito and Lowery get burned on huge plays.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
Of course, Ed Reed is 2nd only to Cal Ripken as my favorite players ever, so I’m horribly biased.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
Sanchise has fear in his eyes. RayRay and the Ravens can smell that shit like sharks smell blood in the water.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
flacco looks damn good.
that hatred of Flacco and love of Sergio sure makes spencer look like Nostradamous

August 24th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
hate you.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
GSG: no, more like he thinks Flacco is the worst QB in the history of ever and believes Sergio is the best player short of Tiger in the world. I’m just busting on him, I love his unbridled enthusiasm (even when he’s wrong)
August 24th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
I know, I was just ribbing. I just remember hearing that theory on shows about Nost before.
August 24th, 2009 at 8:58 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
haha, had to drive my point home.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
yes, i have switched to GG. seriously, im depressed by the first 4 drives. i will rewind at the first GG commercial and speed through the incompletions, happy feet, and awful jets pass rush
August 24th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Perhaps Leon Washington should get the ball on 1st and 2nd down so it’s NOT ALWAYS 3RD AND 10!
Who is the o-coordinator for the Jets?
August 24th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Sanchez is looking more poised. That’s not really saying much
August 24th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
Brian Schottenheimer, who’s usually pretty good
August 24th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
you just missed a TD TBL!
August 24th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
wow washington is unreal
August 24th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
tbl: I can’t believe you’re watching Golden Girls just because it’s Thomas Jones’ favorite show.
You should DVR that crap and be watching the game
August 24th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
If it was Golden Girls I’d understand, but he means the Gossip Girl. Also known as, da ghey
August 24th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
sanchez got lucky on the TD pass. missmatch with a LB on leon … a bit underthrown, but not terrible.
no ed reed, no ray lewis, no T sizzle .. eh
August 24th, 2009 at 9:17 pm
i know it’s just preseason, but does a Jets WR have a catch yet? it’s all dink and dunk and runs. no real issues with that, but im just thinking about fantasy purposes ….
August 24th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
you just missed a TD TBL!
hey, I just saw Jersey and his buddies at the game celebrating
GSG: I know. It was supposed to be a joke
August 24th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
isn’t one of the 1st rules of PR not to field a punt inside your 10?
August 24th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
I haven’t seen Cothchery or (insert random crap receiver name here)
August 24th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
It feels like Sanchez is running plays in a practice setting. Not really reacting yet to what is actually happening on the field. When he takes a three or five step drop, he immediately sets his feet and looks for his #1 option and if there is any pass rusher within 5 yards, he panics and goes into scramble mode.
Not that I expect him to be poised. He’s a rookie. Just seems more noticeable than usual.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:21 pm

clemens all of a sudden has tons of time … facing the 2nd string D
he’s also got 3 years in Schottenheiner’s system. That’s why what Flacoo & Ryan did was an aberration (and Flacco was completely protected by the offsensive style and the Ravens D last year)
August 24th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
hey, Gruden just said what I said. Damn, HE’S smart!-lol

Sanchez has a ‘UGE brace on his left knee. What’s that all about?
Looks like something offensive lineman wear…
August 24th, 2009 at 9:27 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 9:27 pm

Sanchez’s kneecap got messed up last year at USC, as I recall. I’d imagine it has something to do with that.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
smith is in. 14-14.
I thought he still had hamAids from last year?
August 24th, 2009 at 9:32 pm

clemens with a pick six. under duress, awful decision to throw a duck over the middle. less than 30 seconds in the half, spike the ball you idiot
August 24th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
first half thoughts … the jets would be incredibly lucky to go 8-8.
that is all.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
I was with you there, jpq.
/Blanch was my fave.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
first half thoughts … the jets would be incredibly lucky to go 8-8.
tbl: I think that’s what most people have thought all along. I believe the AFC East is going back to 2001-2007 levels: The Pats and three stiffs
August 24th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
/Blanch = Blanche.
//Stupid hot dog fingers.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
tkm: Underrated show for a bunch of retirees in Orlando. Maybe I’m just used to that living in South Florida-lol
August 24th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
Tigers-Angles starting soon. Hizzah.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
J-E-S-T
Jest! Jest! Jest!
They did not look good. However, it was a weird half. Jets blitzing on every down. Ravens throwing on every down. Tough to get a read on their defense.
Offensively, Jones and Washington should be seeing the ball about 70% of the time… Leon is sick.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
..and by “Angles”, I meant “Angels”
August 24th, 2009 at 9:47 pm

So you think they’re better looking than a horse, a used-up hooker, and mannish lesbian, and a prude whiney bitch? Surely, you musk be joking.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
From way out in right field…
Anyone watch Kimmel on a regular basis? I feel like I should start giving him a shot. Every time I watch some of his stuff on YouTube it’s hilarious.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
That Twitter can’t be real. Can’t be.
August 24th, 2009 at 9:55 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
The Beatles. I’m sorry, you all can yell at me if you want. I don’t hate them, but I never understood the universal love.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:02 pm
grazie, sponge.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
Are you talking about the women on GG or Sex in The City? Come to think of it, that desription probably applies to both.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
liked your overrated bands deal spence, kiss should be one though, hate them.
spencer: agree w/ your list, but you need to fit Green Day and Coldplay in there somehow also (and almost EVERY band since 2001)
August 24th, 2009 at 10:08 pm
The real Paolo can’t possibly limit his thoughts to 140 characters or less.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:10 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
How do you guys like your fear delivered? front and center? maybe a little build-up before the big dramatic punchline?
August 24th, 2009 at 10:14 pm

August 24th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
out of those 90,000 deaths that will be at least 20,000 jobs created.
/spin for the bright side’d
August 24th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
I’m a music snob so I hate calling bands overrated but I’m glad Lynyrd Skynyrd was on there. Jesus. We get it, dudes, you can stretch a song out for hours. Shut up. I don’t say I hate any bands because I can usually find a good song in their catalog. Its usually there.
As for Coldplay, if they didn’t get blown up by the mainstream media and get all these 60 minutes pieces I think they would be underrated. The way they arrange their music is very very well done. But I don’t need to be seeing Chris Martin on my TV anymore.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
Actually I’m a music lover not snob. Snob says I’m really picky. Takebacks.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
please. if there’s a god…mercury morris will get aids.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
rs27…there’s no shame in admitting you’re a music snob. gotta wear the badge proudly.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
out of those 90,000 deaths that will create at least 2 million cases of over anxious parents desperately trying to get their doctor to diagnose their kid, which the doctor will happily oblige to justify his existence and the hospital visit.
/fixed for terrible truth
August 24th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
agreed. though his live performances of the Scientist are pretty sweet.

August 24th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
@Spencer
you see this?
August 24th, 2009 at 10:41 pm
@GreatShatnersGhost:
Ever tried Jack just, you know, by itself. Whiskey (or whisky if you prefer) is one of the most wonderfully flavorful things in the world, and shouldn’t be masked with anything but a few dashes of water. And if you feel Jack by itself is a bit much, try switching over to blended scoth like Famous Grouse, Dewar’s, Ballantine’s, etc. Scotch is aged in used oak bourbon barrels and so has a mellower flavor.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:41 pm
badger…yea. i was disappointed, kinda. i thought phil and vijay should’ve been on there. and no women…sorry, don’t mean to be sexist but…
August 24th, 2009 at 10:42 pm
Jack with water is surprisingly really good. Having one right now actually.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
@fetch, if I mix my bourbon with anything, I’ll make it a Jim and sprite. A good summer drink, very refreshing.
August 24th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
that’s not a way to make the team, BRICK
August 24th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
and no women…sorry, don’t mean to be sexist but…
no its a valid point(and I agree)..but then does annika then deserve the chance to compete on the men’s tour if she chooses and has the ability to?
August 24th, 2009 at 11:03 pm
yeah scratch that post…better things to do than start a debate at 11pm
August 24th, 2009 at 11:05 pm
sure…if a chick’s good enough to compete with the guys, sure. i still think wie, one day will play on the pga and be successful and annika was a few missed putts from making the cut.
but at the same time, it’s never happened before aside from babe zaharias so…
phil is one of the most talented golfers to ever pick up a club, and he should be on there for his shortgame ridiculousness alone. and vijay is the all time 40+ winner who didn’t get started until his mid-30’s…if he played in his prime, he’d probably have a resume that’d be amongst the hogans and palmers. i just think it’s a little shitty not to have them on there.
August 24th, 2009 at 11:16 pm
