Sanchez vs. the Ravens: Too Late to Revise Those Projections?
1-liner, NFL August 25th. 2009, 11:15amMark Sanchez on MNF: Painful. His o-line let him down against one of the best defenses in the league. His happy feet in the pocket left the Dancing with the Stars executives drooling. (Conversely, CBS suits probably put the kibosh on having Simms and Nantz fly to Houston for the Texans-Jets opener.) We don’t care about the TD pass from Sanchez to Leon Washington – Lewis and Reed were off the field and it looked like a backup was trying to hang with the guy who led the NFL in yards from scrimmage last year. We saw little or no confidence from Sanchez. Your move, Rex Ryan: Start Kellen Clemens against the Giants (a better defense than the Ravens), and then start Sanchez in the final game. We’re still bullish on Sanchez as a pro and we think he’ll have a fine rookie season – but we’re having second thoughts about him as a starter based on what we saw in the first quarter and a brutal first three games against fast, aggressive, tough defenses: Texans, Patriots, Titans. Two of those three were in the Top 10 last year; the Texans have a ton of defensive talent. Let Clemens take a pounding, and then start Sanchez in the dome against the Saints weak D. Of interest, maybe: The last QB competition Sanchez was in, his opponents were Aaron Corp and Mitch Mustain, both of whom might be backups this year to freshman Matt Barkley.

Not to nitpick, but return yards aren’t from scrimmage.

good catch, sanders.
“total yards,” per the MNF broadcast crew

I would have liked to see Clemens against the Ravens 1st team defense. turned on the game and immediately saw Sanchez throw that pick for 6. good times

TBL Godfather, it’s Cap(tain) Rooney not Sanders or Bsanders damnit. Let’s show the proper respect to a made man. Congratulations Cap Rooney.

Hey TBL would you still like to place a friendly wager on the Jets-Texans?

even better was watching Haloti Ngati hustle his 300lb body to the end zone when he looked shock the ball was thrown right to him.
jets suck.

Is anyone else finding that the site is really slow today? Granted the wireless network I’m on right now is garbage but it has taken (conservative estimate) 6 days to log in and post this comment

Well damnit I am still here so I guess I am not square.
Accurate.
Talk about a homer remark! Yeah, to have a “fine” season as a backup? Yeah right TBL Godfather. Don’t tell us you love him more than Terrell Pryor or Vince Young without their shirts on?
Now you are talking some sense and there is still hope. But please be real and brace yourself for highly probably heartbreak given that like for most Jets fans as for Favre last year, their expectations amidst the local media frenzy and scene are just way too unrealistic.
Like almost all rookie quarterbacks, and as you are a connoisseur of wine as well, they mature almost like some wines after their draft vintage. Think both Mannings, Joe Montana, Brett Favre, et cetera. The CHAMPION QB position in the NFL, though it makes some dudes angry to admit it despite the lengthy track record to show it, is more cerebral than anything else physical except of course the strong arms of most such champion QBs.

Jason David is gone. Not so fast……….

He’s one of my favorite Oregon Ducks of all time. He holds the school record with 7 blocked kicks. Pretty athletic for such a big dude.

Not this week and probably not this season. Rocky Bernard, Canty and Jay Alford are all out. Who the hell knows with Pierce. Aaron Ross is banged up and Umenyiora looks rusty as hell. While I appreciate the props for the Giants their D is not better than the Ravens.

Yeah turns out that when Paolo tards up the site things run really slow.

Younglefty I thought it was your chronic constipation from all your gleeful log cabin high hard ones inspiring your vomitory spewage out the other end on a regular basis here …my bad …TBL Godfather is on the case for the site for sake of the mission of course.

Yes, I blame Billy Wagner for coming back

I heard Ngata blocked something like 30-35 kicks in highschool, that is just crazy.

Giants D better? That’s funny. More sacks: yes. Better stopping the run: No. More turnovers: No. Fewer yds and pts per game: No again. As for Sanchez, the Jets have no shot in the loaded AFC so let him take his lumps and come back next year ready to take the leap that Flacco and Ryan will this year.

My favorite play last night was watching Joe “Speedy” Flacco outrun Vernon “Casper” Gholston
/”Casper” is my nickname for him because he’s invisible on the field
