Stack Jack Wants Out of Golden State
1-liner, NBA August 31st. 2009, 12:30pmStephen Jackson and the Warriors: He’s hard-up to get out of the Bay Area. “It’s just things are in the air right now. I really can’t get too much into it right now, but I’m just looking to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship.” He has named Cleveland, any team in Texas, or NY as teams he’s like to go to. Funny that he’d mention New York and Cleveland, right? The Knicks are built for 30 wins next season. Why not just call LeBron, find out where he’s going, and then beg management to follow him? Jackson’s making big bucks the new few years. [Dime Magazine, Mercury News]

cavs would never take that contract

most contenders have their roster set. Cant blame the guy for not wanting to play in G State. Isn’t he the captain of the team?

love his game, wish his contract was decent and cavs could dump gibson for him

Cap’n Jack. Crazy right? Demand your trade in June, like everybody else does. This guy does not have the kind of past history that any contender wants. He’s also on his 4th team in this incarnation of his NBA career, and probably his 10th or 11th professional team. Time to make it work Cap’n Jack.

If you’re a superstar in the NBA you can have a large contract and play for a good team. Otherwise unless your rally lucky you get one or the other and you should shut your mouth. I’ve seen Paul Pierce and Vince Carter mope way to much because they chose to get paid a ridiculous amount of money by shitty (or then shitty) teams. Suck it up.

Talented but crazier than Anne Heche on bad crack.
I wouldn’t want him on my championship-contending team. Ask the Pacers how that worked out.

Completely agree. Big contracts make you untradeable, and make getting you help much harder. There are a handful of people that deserve a large contract, and Stephen Jackson isn’t one of them.

Ask the Spurs instead.

Ask the Spurs instead.
they found him in the dirt, behind their building. They used him, realized not only how talented he was, but how crazy he was. They showcased him in those early round playoff games and let him go. He contributed to that one title team, and then they got off of him as fast as they could. He was auditioning for the big money, got it, and went cuckoo nuts.

By early round playoff games you must mean the Western Conference and NBA Finals. He killed. By getting off of him you must have meant offering him a substantial contract (by S.A. standards) only to have his agent scoff R.C. and get less money from Atlanta. They wanted him back.
